Ok well im thinking about getting a HDTV when i get my PS3 next year.. and i had a couple questions about this whole High Definition thing..
First off is it better to have a plasma or a LCD screen? I dont want the reguler kind because i want to save space but i heard that the flat panel TV's always have problems in the long run. If any of u have LCD or plasma TV's can u let me know how its holding up?
And last thing.. I was lookin at info about High definition sets and i heard something about a "set top box"?? it said u wont be able to have High definition on the screen unless u have one of these.. Is that just if u watch actual TV or do u also need it to play the PS3?
Thanks for ur reply's

You only need a set top box to watch TV. The PS3 should hook up nicely to your HDTV regardless.

Plasmas are better than LCDs, but they are more expensive, and they can go bad after several years. We ended up buying a Panasonic 42" EDTV (Enhanced Definition TV) plasma, but it looks better than the HD models, and it cost alot less!
But in your case I would definitely go with a plasma.

i already have a 55 inch sony hdtv (which in my opinion looks better than most plasmas as they are higher resolution). I have played some 360 on it and its nice so cant wait to pump some 1080p into it!

wtf, where the hell did you guys get the money to drop on that many tvs!?!?!?!!? fine i got 1000 plasmas, i even take a dump on a plasma. hahahaha.
no for real, is there something I don't know about that you guys do? can i go into buisness with you guys, i'm a good dealer... hehe
i got a 42" LCD and its excellent. plasmas great but expensive, lcd meets my needs. dead pixels are not really a problem. i haven't seen an lcd with one yet. plasma tvs can burn in also if you play alot of like madden or watch lotta sports and you don't "break it in" properly. well, thats not a really big issue also like the dead pixel thing. but the CHEAPEST way to go is if you get a tv that is HD Ready but doesnt include it in there. It works fine, but ten times cheaper. You can get the HD box from your cable company.

no fence but whoever said you need a set top box to watch TV is not that bright. If you get a TV like mine, you can get a cable card installed. Cable card picture qualities look better than set-top boxes because they use the scaling of your TV instead of a set-top box scaling it. The basic difference upon plasma and LCD is the viewing angle. Also, plasmas look better than LCD. Their used to be a problem with older plasmas with image burn in. I own a pioneer (not mine, me dad bought it, but hey i call ownership

, A 43inch plasma, Pioneer makes the best plasmas on the market. If your looking for an alternative to lets say, a 42inch or 43 inch plasma, i would suggest the sharp aquos.
I recommend a pioneer plasma, i have tried out the Phillips, and likes of samsung, yet NONE compare to the pioneer.
here is the link to the TV if yer want to check it out.
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/plas...7312046,00.htmlAnd i dont mean to be a real ass, but whoever is a dealer and doesnt know recent things about TVs.
Are you like a regular dealer whom owns his own company, or one of those morons who work at bestbuy who lie in order to sell Tvs.

LCD's rule upto 32' anything over that and your better off with a plasma. Just be aware of burn in on plasmas with static images like station logos etc.( not that i've ever seen any myself )

They also make screens more than 32 inches, but LCD's are much MORE expensive, but plasma still out competes LCD for home theater, another new technology which i also recommend is LCoS, made by sony. (Liquid Crystal on Silicon), Pretty decent, not as expensive for the big screens of LCD, just not flat panel.

plasma more expensive than LCD erm i thaught the other way around o.O
LCD are cleaer imo and plasma can break after serveral years and need to have a tube replaced or sumin ;P. and my friend experienced a ghost image on the screen which didnt really go away
so LCD up2 32" are prb better

Hmm, you thought? Maybe you should think agian, and do your research. LCD's are more expensive.... Before you compare a 27 inch LCD to a 50 inch plasma, please compare prices. You also need to compare the native resolutions and HDTV signals supported. Another thing, which type of plasma does your so called "friend" have? Ghosting you say? It is image retention. Image retention usually goes away over time when watching moving images, tell your friend to read the manual and he will see that infact, leaving a static image on a plasma display for extended periods of time will cause image retention/burn in. Burn in is permanent if left on a static image for longer than 24 hours.... Well, not for the cheap no name brands. Please do your research before you say half assed things along with doing your research. Thanks.

I have a 50 inch Samsung DLP....why? More bang for your buck...they're just as sharp and bright as a plasma looking at it head-on....and light is quicker than gas or liquid...less artifacts. The PS3 looks awesome on it.
