hey all, kinda new to forum, but have been looking around, trying to get everyones views on things. been trying for a while to decide on whether to get a 360 or ps3. as far as i can tell, both have some great advantages, and both have some disadvantages. xbox's.....well they break down far to much for me to spend 350 bux on one and xbox live is 50 bux a month but i do like the game selection more. the ps3 on the other hand, has been fairly reliable, has free online play and alot more features regarding the psp and whatnot, but the game selection is far more limited. now i am not an extreme gamer, like some people are on here, i just want something that is reliable and fun to play whenever i have some free time.
if those who reply could not only tell me which system they like, but also their reason for liking one over the other that would be most beneficial. i will still probably wait until i get my tax return, but this will probably help me make up my mind unless something like a price drop or a huge game release happens to sway me.

It basically depends on your preferences. If you want better online play get 360, but if you want your console to do more then get the PS3.

I agree and disagree sort of. Sure the 360 has Live and if you want to pay for it and whatever it offers thats cool. The ps3, while it doesnt have achievements and whatnot YET, is free and a good online experience if you ask me. The ps3 is getting awards once HOME is launched so there goes one thing LIVE has over ps3. The only game that has problems online is UT3 right now (sometimes) but thats Epics fault not Sony's. Games like Burnout, Warhawk, Resistance play smooth online with no lag...

If youre a Halo or Gears fan maybe the 360 is for you, but this year imo is the year of the PS3. There are so many games coming out that are good that I would say PS3 hands down. Some games just so you know are Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2, Haze, Socom (My favorite right there), Final Fantasy.....etc

Yeah well i'm getting kind of bored with Halo and as for Gears of War 2 i'll just get the PC version when it comes out. >.>

Thats why ps3 is my main choice.

Wow another fanboy big shock, so I suppose that fact that the XBOX scratches discs, has a 45% failure rate, ect makes it better than PS? Next time if you're going to say one system is better than the other have a feasible reason!

My personal opinion is that 360 is kindof owning and slaping PS3 around. Even thou this is likely to change very soon, 360 is still leading the way no matter how high the failure rate is. Also 360 has the best online play, even thou, again, it's not free unlike PS3's.
My choice is 360.
And there is no point about arguing the truth(360 owns PS3)

Well considering the ps3 sold more in its initial time frame that its been out than the 360 did I fail to see how thats "owning". The ps3 has sold more with competition while the 360 sold less and no next gen competition. hmm....

xD you should probably look at your sales figures again, PS3 is currently outselling the 360 in the US, (now) EU, and JP gee those are the most major gaming regions and yet wouldn't ya know it the 360 is losing. The reason 360 had such a big lead is the fact that it came our a year and a flipping half before the PS3, and everyone if we want to get technical the PS2 is winning the next gen race, it's outsold the 360, PS3, and Wii here in the states and many other places just thought that was kinda funny a 7-8 year old console crushing the current gen.

Also, the failure rate is a big factor. So many 360's are failing even after 2-3 years of being on the shelves. Now that's sad.

yea my friend has had his 360 for a little over a year and it just broke last week granted ive only had my ps3 for 3 months but i have yet to hear about any problems about the ps3 failing

That's because there really haven't been any of those. In the way they're built, the PS3 dominates the 360 completely. The PS3 is very-well built which is why it really doesn't fail.

Personally, I prefer the 360. The games for the 360 are great, (Shadowrun, BioShock,Condemned 1,Halo 3, GoW etc). But the online support is amazing, plus, the majority of people on Live have mics (Cause they come free with the Box). Although i was thinking about getting the PS3 but decided against it, because having both a 360 and PS3 would be pointless as the games are very similiar apart from one or two GOOD exclusives for both systems. I don't hate the PS3 at all, i hate PS3 fanboys (eg. Chad Warden) because you cannot have a conversation with them about it. These kind of fanboys are too stupid to see the flaws with their system, the same goes for 360 and Wii (not so much) fanboys.
