Have you ever wondered about why there are not so many games for PSP?
Why PSP aren't as popular as other gaming devices?
Why PSP will have to die?
Well its probably all because of our fault and part of Sony's fault. We (firmware users) destroy the future of PSP because (its Sony's fault that they can't stop us) we destroy the economy. When people use firmware, it end the the sell of these games and no producer would want to make more games for the PSP because they don't want to make games that won't make them money. When there are no more good games for the PSP then the industry will be selling more DS and PSP will die! Even if we can download games for free; if there aren't more games coming out whats the use of downloading? Now think about it...
Ways to fix this problem:
1) Sony comes out with PSP 2 and completely shuts down hackers. - this is probably the best way since if psp 2 can shut down hackers then there will be more games and we still can rip them.
2) We stop using firmware. - not likely but hey, I tried.
please give me good reasons why doom won't fall upon the great almighty PSP
or give me ways to fix this thing

I just want to bring up the point that the DS is one of the best selling consoles of all time and just as many people use flash cards on that and download free games. That is not what is killing the psp. The lack of MUST buy games is what is killing the psp. I bet you when God of War and Final Fantasy Crisis Core come out next month you will see a HUGE rise in psp sales and both of those games will be the best selling games ever on the psp. If you feel that custom firmware is killing the psp then by all means don't use and and go out and spend 40 bucks on a crappy game. As for me, I am happy not having to waste my money and I will be BUYING God of War and Final Fantasy.

I dont particularly think 25 million in sales means death by any means....

While I don't believe it's true that just as many people play downloaded games on the DS as they do on the PSP (let's face it, it's MUCH easier to play downloaded games on a PSP than it is on a DS,) I tend to agree with marbman. There's no chance of me ever buying a UMD movie. If I were unable to download or rip movies, I would STILL never buy a UMD movie. I'm not hurting sales at all by downloading movies. Same goes for games: There are a couple of games that I love. I've purchased those games. There are a few that I've played that are pretty mediocre. I've not purchased those, and wouldn't have been likely to with or without downloads. Heck, sometimes playing downloaded games leads me to go out and buy a game that I would normally have no interest in.
It just takes a little bit of effort on our part. I won't say don't use CFW, and I won't say don't download movies or games. But if you really like a game, support the developer (unless you're someone who buys used games... then you're not going to support the developer no matter what ;)

yeah...PSPs will live on whether if they are the original or customized. And think about it, if a new PSP come out, it would be a matter of time before someone would attempt to get into it.

Good point. But the original Xbox sold about that 25 million (1 of them to me

) and look where that is now, thanks to Microsoft's cowardly abandoning of it. Hopefully Sony will be much more loyal to the PSP over the years.

Sony has plenty to be thankful for, if it wern't for hackers, the psp wouldn't be nearly as cool as it is now. Half the ideas sony now has for the psp is all taken from homebrew. We had to show them how to do the psp right. We probably saved the psp with our custom firmware and homebrew.

I think there are many reasons why the PSP hasn't gotten the response it has (lack of great games, high cost of UMD movies, marketing stragy, hackers, etc.) but the multi functionality made it appealing to me.

i love streaming from my ps3 on my psp. i have music and videos too large for the psp, but now i can stream them anywhere with a hot-spot. yeah i know there is homebrew to control computers through wi-fi (which is where sony got the idea) but i don't exactly have a computer... im using my ps3 right now to post this

Needs to make more games from foreign countries available thats when I think alot of people will start to consider buying a psp because of the wide range selection of games that come from other countries
