Im new to all this lark and need to know how to sort out getting online via wifi.I have found a few hotspots near me and need to know what to do next.Do I need to subscribe to a wifi provider like BT openzone or is it free?
Its got a Hotspot locator, and it'll tell you which ones are free and which cost money.
If you want to play wi-fi at home all you need is a USB access point, Newegg.com has some for only around $15-20.

what do you mean just a USB port and what is $20 on newegg.com ? by the way my family and i were out side a mcdonald's and going through the drive thru and saw a sign that said "Wi-fi Access" so i turn on my psp and get on the web broswer and find a signal at 74% and tryed it but some error sign came up and then we drove away so i could not try again.so how do you get it to pop up the web page?

WEll, i was guessing that you had the internet, as you are posting on an internet message board.
And no, that product will only work if you have a linksys wireless router. I was referring to something like this:
Im sure you can find them a lot cheaper on ebay. The reason why you couldnt hook up to the wifi at Mcdonalds is that you have to pay (as you'd know if you looked at the link i gave in my original post.)

Yes, thats the kind of thing you'd need. Though knowing Linksys, while they are a good brand (my wireless router is a Linksys) its probably a lot more expensive than a product by the 'less known' brand (which probably has the same quality)
