Well CES was fun and I look forward to being there again next year.
Not much divulged other than the two posts I've made so far but I did hear an interesting 'bon mot' from a friend that works at SONY.
Seems our little friend the PSP will soon be getting DivX Certification to allow for the downloading of movies and TV shows through the PC store, transferred from PS3 and from selected third party online retailers (psst...starts with G and ends with le).
DivX for PSP should be released within two months and be included with the 4.0 firmware update.

this would be very useful... let me explain to you why...
yes u can convert avi files to mp4, which shortens the size of the file about half. and also the quality. when you want to play movies on big screen tv, via your psp. playing mp4 format movies would be a crap quality on hd tv or any other big screen tv's. you get alot of pixel boxes flashing through out the movie. because remember you rescale the video aspect ratio. and also the sound quality isnt good either.
but if you have a normal divx avi file running on the psp, its quality stays the same on the psp and the tv, thus you can view it on your big screen tv via psp video cable.
and lastly, they trying to show that the psp can handle just about anything lol. and it can especially the slim.

I've always wanted the psp to be able to play AVI files and it's something i think should've been done along time ago. I've had a psp since it launched and I've always felt that their support toward video for anything not UMD related was retarted. The need to convert every video to play on the device was always stupid. They should have supported alot more formats at launch.

I THINK THAT THIS IS REALLY COOL, I THINK THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE A UNIVERSAL VIDEO FORMAT. I THINK THAT It's 'bout time that sony is finally giving up on the whole umd movie idea, just like they failed with beta-MAX all those years ago!
