I'm tired of having to buy ringtones, I want to rip CDs and send mp3s to my cell phone. Is there a way I can do this via a online service? I'd even settle for one where I can only send files that are already ON the internet.

text messaging, or SMS travels over the voice channle as a CSD connection and will not support media, but picture messaging, or MMS (multi-MEDIA-messaging) will do yah just fine, there are also online services that will allow u to upload a file and then will MMS it your phone as a ringtone for a small fee.
your best bet though, would be a software suite such as motorola phone tools, or nokia PC suite, or samsung PC studio... the list goes on and on...
BTW windows mobile based phones will play MP3 and WMA right out of the box
windows media player 11 may even reconize your phone as a portable music device and try to sync your playlist to it if you plug it in with it running via usb
what sort of phone do u have?
many carriers allow email to be recieved as sms or mms as well... someting like yournumber@yourcarrier.net or something, call your carrier and ask em if there is a email to phone option you can use to recieve emails as sms on your phone.. odds are good you can do it that way as well

Well for me my phone came with software that let me transfer files to my phone from my PC so I just download ring tones( for free

) and put them on my phone and use them.

Try uploading to a WAP site and going to the internet and downloading through your mobile phone. (Using the internet of course)

Exactly. It was free and it works perfectly, so why not use it?

I found one, I don't know if it works or not. It didn't work with MY phone, but it supposedly does with Sprint. Just thought I'd post it in case any Sprint users wanted it. Anyone know where I can find one like this compatible with Alltell?

That's the thing, I don't know what model it is.It's grey, and it has a mini sd slot at the top. I don't know how to tell the model, it's pretty fast with the internet, does that help? I'm using it as a modem.
I'm sorry, I wish I could tell you more, but I just don't know.
