Hi

Im completly new to all this so bare with me!

I downloaded a game and copied the EBOOT file and game folder to my games directory on my PSP. The icon comes up but when I press X to play it comes up with "The copyright protection information is invalid" How do you sort this?

Do I need custom firmware? Are there any games you can download without having to change the firmware.

Thanks!

Hi holman210, and welcome to PSP-Spot. smile.gif

About your question, I need to ask you a few questions.

Are you trying to play a PSP game (ISO) or a PS1 game (EBOOT) or a homebrew game (EBOOT in 2 folders)?
Which firmware are you on?
Have you got a normal PSP or a Slim/Lite PSP?

Either way, tou are right that you need custom firmware to play downloaded games.

Thanks for your reply!

I think it was a PS1 Eboot because it had the eboot file and a thumbnail file. I cant remember what firmware I have, I left my PSP at work. Its just the most up to date I downloaded from the "Network Update" option on the PSP through WIFI.

Its just a normal PSP. I thought I might haave to change the firmware. Its something im not sure about and looks very confusing.

Thanks!

OK, you'll need to downgrade then install custom firmware then.

Having a normal PSP is good, homebrew and custom firmware works better.
To set up your PSP to play downloaded games, you will need to downgrade using Pandora's Battery then install custom firmware such as 3.52 M33.
To do this you will need access to a homebrew-enabled PSP.
If you can't get hold of one or are finding it too confusing, you could always send it off to someone to do it for you.
There are lists of people here and here who will do it pretty much freely (just postage costs usually).
