hi. I just got 3.40 OEA running and want to customise my xmb icons. Problem is, i dont have a clue how. Any help is appreciated thanks

hey man, here's something i learned here, so now i'm gonna share it to you. just follow the instructions carefully and you'll have custom xmb's in no time.

first off, here's a checklist you might wanna gather first.

1. look for a custom xmb that you want to install on yer PSP, it's usually a file named 'topmenu_plugin.rco' (you can find lotsa them here on tha site in the Customization Section).

2. since you're running 3.40 oe-a, you need the program 'TOPMENU 3.40 Converter' which is also available on this site, thanks to many good souls out there.

Now, here's what you need to do after you got those i mentioned above. You need to run the TopMenu converter since most custom xmb's (unless specified) were developed to conform to 3.03 oe. There's a noob friendly README file on the package that should be easy to understand.

After you've converted the file, connect your PSP to your PC and open in recovery mode and follow these very simple steps.

1. on your PSP, Go to 'Advanced > Toggle USB (flash0)'

2. a window will open on your PC showing you the contents of flash0. Go to 'X:\vsh > resource' where X is your PSP drive.

3. Copy the original flash0 file named 'topmenu_plugin.rco' first onto your PC or any back-up media that you have.

4. Now get the converted topmenu_plugin.rco file that you previously converted and overwrite the existing file on your PSP.

5. exit recovery mode on your PSP and reboot.

That's it! you got a custom xmb running on your PSP!

Hope that helped... cool.gif

When you download xmb themes, you will get all these filenames and not have a clue what they are. So this is what each one does:

Icons = topmenu_plugin.rco
Background Waves = system_plugin_bg.rco
Month themes = 1-12.bmp
Click Sounds = system_plugin.rco
Gameboot = gameboot.pmf
Opening sounds = opening_plugin.rco
Volume Bar = impose_plugin.rco
Battery bar = system_plugin_fg.rco
Savedata loading icon = savedata_plugin.rco
game loading icon = game_plugin.rco
photo loading icon = photo_plugin.rco
fonts = ltn0.pgf

upgrade to 3.52 m33-4, then go to recovery menu and access flash0, where u put da files u get. usually the files u dl are alrdy configured so dat u only have to copy and paste it to the root of da flash0, if not, den use a flasher..
