Will we be able to use the firmware we've all come to know and love on the PSP Slim?

We don't know yet, but early reports suggest that it will not be downgradable, at least initially.

Has Sony attempted to prevent downgrades yet? How hard have they cracked down?

no one will know for sure until it comes out but i personally dont think it will be able to be downgraded and if it can it will take some time. but maybe a new pandora's battery can be made:). im sure sont is think of ways to make sure the battery wont work on the new psp.

pandoras battery doesn't work on it and it comes with fw 3.6 so right now it's not downgradable. Who know about the future though

If this is true they should just make homebrew accesible through sony software. make some money off of it.
