im realli new to this. i was wondering how would i downgrade from version 3.30 firmware. i got to 3.30 from a tales of the world: radiant mythology which i got. also from there, what steps would i take to dl the homebrew firmwares and install them properly.

Hi TenChuu, and welcome to PSP-Spot!

You can't downgrade from 3.30, but you can downgrade from 3.50.
To do that however, you will need an original Lumines UMD.
If you have one of them, then you can update to 3.50 (no higher or you won't be able to downgrade for ages!), and then follow this 3.50 downgrade guide.

also be aware that if you do downgrade from 3.50 you will NOT be able to go back to original sony firmware above 3.30 i believe it is just something to think about

It's above 3.11, and that is only if he has a TA-082/86 mobo.

first you need to upgrade to 3.50 then downgrade to 1.50 with the game lumines and the 3.50 dpwngrader. from there you can upgrade to any custom fimeware you like. you can find videos on how to do this on you tube. and find the needed files by searching a forum or google

doesn't running original UMD updates from 1.50 get you back to original sony FW?

besides, i doubt any gamer would wanna go back to original sony fw after experiencing CFW's...

It would do, but downgrading TA-082/TA-086 involves changing some keys in the flash.
So if you tried to update past 3.11 (I think), your PSP would brick.

Only if you have access to a homebrew-enabled PSP.
If you don't, then the old downgraders are still very useful.
