Well, when u go to the Playstation store on your PS3, there is a secondary server that checks what firmware you have against theirs, which is always the latest version. If you don't have the latest version you can't get in to the store, you would have to run their update. The DNS firmware bypass reroutes the outgoing connection to a false server which checks your firmware against it's firmware version, which is 0.00, and then you're able to access the store.

This might sound a bit fool-hardy, but I'm still waiting on a breakthrough for firmware exploits on the ps3, and being able to run homebrew

well i would say still update because psp users were enocuraged not to update becauese you were able to play isos and homebrew on 1.5, and u cant play isos on a ps3 with any firmware, and anyway i would think the only way to hack it later is with a mod chip and u would have to buy a blu ray burner(which is about 1000$) and blank blu ray discs(i heard they were 30$ each...) so ya

Your probably right, but I want to see the full potential of the PS3 like homebrewers brought out the full potential of the PSP. I wouldn't need a blu-ray burner if I can load isos anyway. An external HD is cheaper

but also remember that a blu ray disc can hold up to 50GB so think of downloading a 50gb game and putting it on a HD, you wouldnt be able to put much games on one and it would take a long to download
http://www.pspiso.com/index.php?topic=30006.0 heres a great site to see how big games are

yes a Blu-ray can hold up to 50GB, but the largest game I know of at the moment is RFOM and thats about 17GB. For me, $60 can be better spent paying for gas as well as other bills I gotta pay. So spending a couple of hours downloading a game is worth it in my opinion, just like what I do for my psp

but think of what u have to pay for
a blu ray burner-1000$
balnk blu ray discs-25$ each??
abd More HD Space if u need it

Let's subtract the need for a blu-ray burner and blu-ray disks and replace that with a external HD. An external HD is cheaper than the burner any day. A 1TB external HD can cost about $300, that alone can hold alot. For the price of a blu-ray burner I can get a couple more. But who needs more than one if you know how to manage space properly

well, that would mean u have to find a way to find a way to the put the files on the ps3... which would take more time but whatever i have no reason in stopping u

I know, but this has turned into quite the conversation. There really wouldn't be a need to isos to your ps3 HD if you were able to mount them
ya but this got me to thinking, if they did make an iso loader, would u be able to play burnt ps1 and ps2 games? if that would be the case i would try to find a firmware bypass lol

actually, you already can play burned ps and ps2 games via switch mod. But if there were an iso loader, why burn the games?
I keep going back and looking up the Paradox and Ferrox iso loaders and find nothing in the way of files. I think Sony stepped up its piracy prevention for the PS3 and halted the work. I did read a rumor that Sony recruited either the members of Ferrox or Paradox as a means to stop it or as an alternative to punishment.
Anyways, i did figure out the problem with the DNS server. It was my computer changing ip addresses on my by itself.
switch mod is where u make it so u can take the lid off the ps3 right? because i heard of that for the ps2 not ps3

It's something sorta like that for the ps3, only that you can't really take the top off of the PS3. Pretty much the way it works is that you manually hardwire a switch to the PS3's blu-ray drive. Usually when u hit the eject button, software-wise, it'll reset the cd information. By using the switch, it goes around the software reset and ejects the disk. The ps3 still thinks that there is a legitimate, non bootleg, disk inserted in the drive and u put your cd in there. The ps3 will boot the game like any regular game. It's pretty interesting what people can come up with

That switch mod information is kind of interesting.
As far as not being able to find any files pertaining to iso-loaders, that's (in part) because the Ferrox stuff ended up being a hoax. I can't speak for the Paradox one. I don't think a reliable, or stable one has been built by anyone who wants to share it yet. Sony is being more watchful/active of priacy via the net though, I will grant you that.

I completely agree with you on how Sony "polices" the net, but its things like homebrew that give people more use out of their console. Thats probably the idea behind Sony's idea of giving the people the ability to put Linux on their ps3, but whats the point in that when you don't have full access to the PS3's hardware. My guess is piracy, but I still think that its dumb on Sony's part. I believe that big companies like Sony have this one idea in the back of their minds, homebrew is synonymous with piracy but we all know thats not true. Piracy only occurs when you put what you rip online. It is legal for you, if and only if you own the game, that you can make a backup.
