Dark AleX skipping 3.50 OE, working on 3.51 OE instead

French PSP news site PSP-Gen has posted some very good and important news concerning the PSP homebrew scene.

Unfortunately, according to Mathieulh, Dark AleX will not be releasing custom firmware 3.50 OE, so those who have been waiting for it won't see it. The good news is that Dark AleX will be developing custom firmware 3.51 OE instead to keep our psp's as current as possible and to fight against Sony's attitude towards the homebrew community.

There has been no time frame yet for when 3.51 OE will come out, but we will let you know as soon as it does. Keep checking back here for updates.

Well, its nice to have the most recent firmware.

I am also still on 3.03 OE-C, but i am assuming 3.51 OE will be epic, and will download it for sure.

slightly bummed cuz I wanted the rss text reader, but Dax is very fast with his releases so I'm not worried

Is there any good features in 3.51 that we really need? Like are there any major changes?

not really that i know of maybe the ps3 connectivity thing and the rss text reader.... sonys got to start givin' us more great features, maybe then we'd be less reliant on homebrews for fixes or cool stuff on the psp.

How do you upgrade a cfw? is it just in the same way you would update a official firmware? (Through the memory stick) or is there something a bit more to it?

Ive been trying the Bigs and it wont work....I guess since its new i need a high firmware

It's just as easy as updating official firmware.
The only real difference is that you put the folders in "ms:\PSP\GAME150\" before running the update.

DAX won't even work on 3.51 anymore since he is quitting, to improvise his life, but he'll come back sometime to work on it, just less though..

hopefully somebody picks up where DAX left off, you know sony is gonna put a 3.51 req on all the new games now... looks like devhook FTW

He has quit (unfortunately), this was announced before he quit (obviously).

I really wanted remote play too with the 3.51 OE..... Well guess i'll have to wait longer and see how this whole thing pans out.
