Official ISO loader found in FW 3.50, 3.51More news from the PSP homebrew front. Mathieulh has explained on the Devsgen PSP forums that Sony has included an official ISO loader in PSP firmware versions 3.50 and 3.51. The loader is called np9660.prx and will apparently let PSP users load ISO files off their memory sticks.
The first explanation that comes to mind regarding the official ISO loader is that Sony is planning to release downloadable PSP titles either through PSN or a similar service geared exclusively for the PSP. The company has already mentioned earlier this year that a download service for the PSP is in the works.
French PSP news site PSP-Generation also notes that Dark AleX and Mathieulh will be patching the np9660.prx file for use in custom firmware 3.51 OE.

seems to me like this'll be the final blow to game shops, if it succeeds in anything more than getting a lot more pirated stuff distributed that is.

sounds different for sony, they could end up losing alot of green from more pirated copies of games

Interesting, the most likely thing I can think of is that they will make PSP games downloadable via the PS3 store like PS1 games currently are.

I'm not sure, I saw that as well.
It was djp who had a problem with QJ, from ages ago.

this news was also on Dcemu i read it a couple days back.. I've also read that Dark_Alex is gonna patch this official ISO loader for 100% NO-UMD compatibility in the next OE(3.51 OE-A)... that way you'll never have to use a UMD to laod an ISO again... I Think that is pretty useful

This will benefit Sony. i Seriously will not mind paying for downloadable content that allows me to play games of my memstick. Also this will give people an incentive to stick with official firmware. to the home brew scene it doesnt do much because we could already do iso loading thing (better compatibility in no UMD is plus though). I see this as a way for sony to try and deter people away from custom firmware.

That would be great; it's just about the only thing I can think of that needs fixing in OE.
