3.50 Downgrader released -

Category: NON-VIP-PSP EXPLOITS & LOADERS

Description:
This downgrader is for v3.50 firmware, and includes a port of the Homebrew ENabler (HEN) for firmware 3.50.

It will automatically detect all known PSP motherboard types, and do the appropriate steps to ensure a safe downgrade.

Before we get started, let's have the obligatory warnings:

Quote:

Any downgrader carries some risk of permanently damaging your PSP. We've done everything we can to remove as much danger as possible, but if you choose to use this downgrader, you are accepting all of the risk involved. Nobody else will be held responsible for any damage to your PSP, howsoever caused.

Recent Sony official firmwares (3.30 onwards) have included checks that block upgrade from previously-downgraded PSPs with TA-082 or later motherboards. If you use this downgrader on such a PSP, you will lock yourself out of official firmware updates - although you will still be able to use new OE firmwares when they are released. We intend to release a tool to allow a return to official firmwares in the future.

This software is provided free of charge, so that you can use legitimate homebrew on your PSP. You are explicitly prohibited from selling it, or using it to pirate commercial games or applications. If you want to play a commercial game, do the decent thing and support the developers by buying it. If you don't, then YOU are contributing to the death of the PSP software industry.

To use this downgrader, you will need the following:

- A PSP, upgraded to the official Sony v3.50 firmware. You should also set your language settings to "English".

- A legal Lumines UMD, either the EU (ULES00043) or US (ULUS10002) version. The original, Platinum, or Greatest Hits versions are all fine. Support for the Japanese version will come soon.

- Sufficient intelligence and english language skills to be able to carefully and throroughly read the instructions.
It would also help if you've previously run the Illuminati Hello World, so that you're familiar with how to run the Illuminati exploit.

- For instructions on how to run the downgrader, see the Downgrader_HOWTO.txt file in the ZIP.

People lumines is not hard at all to find. Any version will work. Even the greatest hits version. I just called 3 gamestores in my area and they all have a copy either new or used.

HEH. Not gunna do it.

Even if I could find a cheapo, and I do mean CHEAPO copy of lumines, the risk is still to great.

And am I the only one who sees this as just one big plug for Lumines?

The risk is small, I would do it. But if you're not confident then it's probably better if you don't.

I think that all of the Lumines UMDs being bought are second hand so I doubt that this is a plug for Lumines.
(the new ones are Lumines Platinum Edition or something, and probably don't work)

risk very minimal with the newer downgraders. no one said you had to do it.

and why would they plug lumines the downgraders are not made by the company that made lumines. besides lumines is like over 2 years old and lumines 2 is out.
indecom
ways to go. looking forward to getting my lumines now. hehe.

1. The risk is not great. Almost nothing if you follow instructions. You have to do something dumb like shut the psp off while downgrading to brick it...

2. Its not a plug for Lumines. The game is old and the downgrader is made by a very well respected psp team.

Sweet, i can't remmeber how long ago the last downgrader got released. Now off to ebay to try and get that game u need.
billy101
awesome man!, the psp scene is going to hit big with this one, there isn't a update yet so hopefully we can hurdle as many homebrewers as we can until the newbies buy and update their new psp's!

There is no risk at all if you know what u doing. I downgraded 3 psps already with this downgrader and then upgraded to 3.40 oe.

You have to do something dumb as hell like turn off your psp while it's downgrading to mess it up.

And how is this a plug for lumines? That game is 2 years old. Lumines 2 is out already.
Anarchist86ed
Amazingly, I found a copy of lumines buried in a circuit city discount bin for $12.

I still don't know about this though. I thought they figured out how to make homebrew run without downgrading?

As someone who has never bothered to try downgrading, is someone going to do a step by step tutorial WITH pictures for us dumba$$es who don't know what we're doing?
riceboy39
is it worth it to downgrade?

Yes it is; downgrading to 1.50 and then installing 3.40 OE-A will really increase what your PSP can do - homebrew (including emulators), PSP ISOs, PS1 games, etc.
