Laptops and higher end systems pretty good but the budget systems are soooooooooooooo crappy, course really most budget systems are. I build my own so I am comfortable hating everything else I do love their printers but hate the cameras.

yeh, actually i quite agree. The ''M'' range is probably one of our strongest ranges. It targets the middle of the market and at an adequate price. For example, they typically come with 1GB od DRR2 SDRAM and a TV tuner with an intel Pentium D 3.2GHZ or above- which seems okay with a 17'' hp monitor and the hard drive for £600. I also dislike the photo printers, im more of an Epson man myself,- regardless of working for HP.
I'd also like to say that clearly HP desktops have style.

I have not used Epson stuff in quite awhile but I used to swear by them. I believe they went through a spell where it was a bitch to keep the wipers for the printhead clean so I moved to HP. I love everything about my Photosmart 8250 except it seems one of the ink cartridges is always empty and it really gets grumpy when one color is empty.

i go for epsons everytime they mite be slow printers compared to other printers but the compatible cartridges are so cheap i can pick up a whole set for £15. HP make really good office printers we got a 7210 all in one and a Laser jet 2550 colour and have never had any problems with either of em an they get quite a beating everday

Did not realize ink was so cheap for the Epson, something to consider these days.

Owners of the C42/C46 inkjet printers can get compatible cartridges for as little as £5. Further more, DX/CX owners ink is also cheap, at a rate of £10-£15 per set. I believe this is where Epson has an advantage and its a very good selling point.

oh yea compatible cartridges for epsons are well cheap, there a place by wer i work that sell compatible cartridges for them an they can be as cheap as £1.20 a cartridge. they uses really crappy ink tho u cant print photos with em the black comes out purple an runs on the glossy paper, but for just basic printin on normal paper ther great

Eh, hp is Ok. I dont really have any problems with the hp computer that i have, but hp has slow speeds for me. It also does not help that my computer is about 2 years old, but i like hp. Thinking about buying another one, but only if the speed can be faster, which is a high possibility.

Most of the time it is the bundled helper apps that slow hp down. Look for updaters, calendars, schedulers, live support links and stuff like that in your system tray and ditch thing you don't actually use.

goto run type in msconfig and click on the startup tab and look for stuff like that. Usually you anti-virus, firewall, cftmon, and sometimes sound programs are all you need. Things like cd/dvd drive monitors, updaters, schedulers, hot keys should be unchecked unless it is something you actually use on a regular basis. Note that unchecking these apps does not uninstall or delete them it just keeps them from being started everytime Windows starts. If you un-check something and then want it back all you have to do is go back and that item again

it entirely depends wat yr doing really, like if yr playing games or converting video it drain quite quick but if yr just surfing the net it will last longer. it says it lasts for 2.7 hours but thats wen u got all the power settings to low an have screen brightness on low an wifi turned off. just surfing the net with wifi on an normal power settings u shud get about 2 hours out of it think. but obvoiusly things like burning DVDs takes that extra little bit of juice.
