Following research in conjunction with Archaemic, Noobz are proud to present the first ever all-firmware exploit for the PSP. Based on Lumines, the "Illuminati" exploit is a user-mode exploit using a buffer overflow in the savedata file - similar to the GTA exploit.

That's right - if you've got a legal UMD copy of Lumines, then you can run homebrew on your PSP - whatever the firmware version. That includes v3.50! Right now, the only homebrew is the Hello World demo released below - but in future we intend to release a HEN and downgrader.

To make the exploit work:

* Check that you have an EU or US version of Lumines (ULES00043 or ULUS10002). Currently we don't have a version for the Japanese version, but we're working on it, as soon as we get hold of a Japanese UMD.
* Extract the contents of the 'MS_ROOT' folder from the ZIP file into the top-level of your memory stick. (HINT: If you wind up with an 'MS_ROOT' folder on the stick, you've done it wrong).
* Start the game, and as soon as it gets to the 'Press START' screen, press START. If you wait until the demo has started, the exploit may not work.
* The screen should go blank, and the exploit will start after a few moments. It doesn't do anything except look pretty at this stage - but feel free to enjoy the first homebrew on your v3.10 - v3.50 PSP Wink

Need help here? i jz got my new psp and i accidentally update it in 3.50FW , How can i downgrade it to 1.50 ? and i read about this "Illuminati" what it will going to happen if i install it on my PSP? Is there anyway i can downgrade my psp?

no you cant yet. the exploit was just found you still have to wait for a downgrader to be made.

I have firmware 3.03 I know that firmware can be downgraded but i have yet to find any stores that have a unpatched gta. However i do have lumines!!!

It's only a matter of time before a downgrader will be released. Then i will downgrade to 1.5 and then update to 3.40 OE.

I have a 4gb and a 2gb memory stick. And i can't even use them cause i can't run homebrew!!

Awesome now i wonder about the smaller PSP.
I hope lumines wont be hard to find.

Also is this the Firmware that Sony said was unhackable?

Would they still sell it at stores like Target, Walmart? GameStop site say they don't have it...but meh. Thats just online who knows what different games each stores individually have.

Anyways, yeah the 3.03 downgrader came like a month after the TA-082 2.71 HEND one and this one took 6 months, just when I thought they lost their touch outta nowhere comes the ultimate hack!!

I knew there was a reason I loved this game(besides the fact that it is a great time killer when on the subway) Even though it doesn't help me right now since I dropped my PSP entering the aforementioned subway on Friday and now I am waiting for my replacement screen to arrive. So I have time to wait for the downgrader. Since I don't have unpatched gta and I'm on fw 2.81

you are a god damn retard. 1 pspradio is far from one of the best homebrew apps. and as far as i am concerned all emus work + R12 (n64 emu) is coming about soon. the only reason you are talking like this because you havent ever tried homebrew

This isn't a "hopeless venture"; it's an exploit that is confirmed working and can run unsigned code.
That's the first, largest and most difficult step towards a working downgrader or HEN (Homebrew Enabler) equivalent for the firmware.

3.51 is out, probably to combat the downgrader:

I tried to run the Illuminati All firmware exploit (up to 3.50) to my psp 3.11 and accidentally it works fine got any idea if the downgrader for 3.50FW can also work fine in 3.11 FW? any IDEA guys?

did I mention dat dax quit? any one know y he would quit after da biggest exploit?
