Well, we can cross off one more game off the already-crowded PSP summer release calendar. Manhunt 2 was scheduled for release at the beginning of July, but due to its recent AO rating from the ESRB, Take-Two must reconsider. In a statement to Gamespot, Take-Two stated it has "temporarily suspended plans to distribute Manhunt 2 for the Wii or PlayStation platforms while it reviews its options with regard to the recent decisions made by the British Board of Film Classification and Entertainment Software Rating Board."

It seems like an edit of the game is most likely. However, they also admitted that "We continue to stand behind this extraordinary game. We believe in freedom of creative expression, as well as responsible marketing, both of which are essential to our business of making great entertainment." Let's hope the game doesn't undergo too much of a drastic change.

Funny, because I remember reading the reviews for rating from the UK first.... but anyway.

This is a letdown, both on a personal scale, as well as a professional scale. Does Rockstar really think a game with an AO rating is going to NOT sell? When GTA: San Andreas went AO due to the locked material contained within, the thing sold like crazy. It was controversial, and people wanted to be a part of it.

All Rockstar has to do, is release it on their website directly... for those people that want the 'full game' and release a 'politically correct' version 4 months from now. I guarantee you, the biggest ones that WON'T be selling, are the 'friendly' ones.

If the gameplay is there, the story is there, and Rockstar sticks by it, they will have a hit.. no matter what anyone rates it.

bad news

Yup, bad news. Still; should be interesting to see how it goes. I think it'll fly off the shelfs after the train wreck the first Manhunt left behind. It was taken off the shelfs in the UK and people were going to all sorts of lengths to get their hands on a copy. Crazy!

Cheers,
Chris

the whole esrb thing has completely turned to shit. as a game store employee, i have to deal with it first hand every day and we're losing our jobs over it. the fun behind playing games is that you can do things you can't do in real life. someone who goes out and kills people after playing a video game had issues to begin with. i can't get over how stupid this is

game ratings have gone through the roof. its so weird and stupid.
