Working in the position i do at HP i generally talk to alot of people about computers and running the pc forums basically means i have numerous discussions about computers and controversial topics on that subject. The worst company (excluding ''time'' ''eisystems'' and ''gateway/emachines'') is dell.
*crap products and value for money*
*worst customer services*
*un-innovative and plain products*
*crap marketing*
ShadowScreen
Their XPS line is very innovative.. not to mention that BIG ASS laptop...
HK88
I thought they were good value for money. Im glad i didnt get my pc from dell anyways
thomas33665588

I used to own a HP, was considering to purchase a Dell, the prices well alright, but my mates keeped on bugging me to buy Peices of the unit" i dont know how to build a computer? iv opened mine up, The old one" took some parts out didnt know how to put them back in xD.
Bizzle™
And dell is crap btw.

Devok, building a pc is cake once you pick out your parts. Could even be a contest 4 us. Give us a price and well go to NewEgg (just cause they have a neat wishlist that u can save) and pick out the best parts for the buck and then all team up for the build.

I don't like Dell either but HP/Compaq budget systems are a solid pain in the ass. The hardware is fine but they come with so many junk appz that run constantly and gum up the works. Course they have given me allot of bizness wink.gif
ashkonee01
ya i cant believe people who buy dells, there to big and way to shitty. better off buying a Apple Flatscreen smile.gif

You cannot use the ''come with alot of software'' against any company. Many of us use bundled software, its something alot of consumers wont escape. I hear you with the HP comment..all the printer drivers- but they can be easily un-installed....

dell has decent laptops and the xps line isnt too bad. their desktops are crap for the most part but its businesses and schools that buy them because they can get them cheap. id still rather have a dell than an hp though. that is if i had to choose between the 2
HK88
For a shit company, dell sure is popular. Damn Dell mad.gif
NyghtcrawleR
Well if you make cheap products people will buy them. My wife has a dell desktop and her parents 2. And I hate them all. Have had problems with all of them. My HP laptop, none. And Ive had that longer than all of their computers.

My Hp was temporary running the Hp version of windows 98, i disliked there version, it held me back from doing many things unlike the normal windows, and there app's more than half of it you dont even use, this was about 8-9 years ago.

i wud rate HP's customer service excellent. Customer brought their laptop back (hard drive bust) called HP that day at about 3pm, i did get transfered to different departmants like 4 times, all of the people i talked to wer from pakie-stan so wer very hard to understand. i bet yr thinkin wats so good bout HP customer service then?? well even tho i called late in the day the hard drive was delivered the very next day at 9.30AM, the customer was so pleased coz i thought it wud take bout 5 workin days, she tipped me £10.

Thanks HP!!!!

Well no dude.In some rare cases things like this happen. However, the Singapore's customers services cenrtre is probably the worst in the indurty. In most cases customers are reffed to a website which gives the customers service number.-This is what lets Hp down.

do HP customers very rarely get good customer service or sumfin?

Hp's computers are to expensive, so thats the last time im going to buy another on, for that amount, i could get a pc twice as good.

ther not that expensive they make a half decent, very cheap laptop. U can pick up the HP 510 Laptop on dabs for around £300 inc vat. sold a few in work and they look really nice, not the usual tacky cheap crap u usualy get wen u dont pay much
NyghtcrawleR
I disagree with them being expensive. You pay for what you get. You want something good and not crappy you gotta pay for it. My HP laptop was like $1500 but still running strong after over 3 years. Only upgraded the ram. Runs like a beaut.

You save so much when you build your own, buy parts and knowing the right dealers save you heaps.

better yes. cheaper? not necessarily, my vid card cost almost as much as a dell. laugh.gif
UFCmma
dude , i got a dell and i totally agree. thier customerservice is usually a person who cant even speak english in a halfway understandable dialect which results in not fixing our problems at all. and on top of that, i dont like it. but what can i do? i cant afford another comp and there is no light at the end of this tunnel. so im stuck with it for the time being. but i agree, dell sux balls

there goes the dell....
Nadclovek²
I have a Dell
It came free from Telus, and well, it WAS worth it
I cannot play any games on here
Heck I can hardly run Photoshop and MSN at the same time
I even got this thing upgraded from what they normally send
Imagine if I didnt... sad.gif

fer sure on the bundles, temp or limited versions blow. My problems lie in all the TSR apps that run in the background. HP, Dell, & Compaq, hell all major manufactures attempt to make their PCs more "user friendly".
All those assistants, help programs, auto updaters, reminders and monitors kill the performance of any machine.
As far as being cheaper to build your own you have to consider the cost of the OS and other software. A copy of Windows, Office, and a simple photo editor purchased by a consumer costs more than allot of companies base line PCs

u make a very good point there. Legally only wat microsoft call "system builders" or "OEM manufactures" are alowed to buy OEM software, the retail versions of windows, even though are exactly the same as OEM versions (except reatil versions come in fancy packaging) are twice the price of the OEMs. so u have to consider the extra cost. plus manufactures like HP, Dell, etc make money from putting trail software on their computers so they can make their computers a little cheaper for the end-user (plus pocketing some of it themselves). But it is anoying wen u cant get trail software off computers. But hey, thats life!!! laugh.gif
