In 5 days time, I have already grown tired of my PS3 and 2 games I purchased. The only time my PS3 seems to be useful, is to watch some movies in HD, and thats all.
Things I found wrong/dislike about the new system:
- The Internet Browser has a sloppy setup
- Needs a Changable Background
- Online Gameplay is under developed.
- Need an Upgraded PSP to use Remote Play
The only things I have found useful:
- PSP - PS3 Hookup
- Movie Setup
- Music Setup
There is probably a much longer list, but that is not the main point of this thread.
Maybe there is just something I am missing, and this system truly is a God of Next Gen Consoles, but as of now I highly doubt that.
So if you own a PS3, please reply with why you bought yours, and what you liked after you bought it. Followed by what you disliked and/or hated about the console.
And if you dont own a PS3, please state why.
Thanks

I think your way off point here.
1. Changeable background - I'm, sure itll come, but is it that necessary? I mean youre either playing games or watching movies, why does the bg really matter?
2. Online Gameplay - Home is being developed. Yeah sony has been behind in mass online, but give it time. Home is going to be awesome.
3. Games - Theres a few good games out, but this year is when all of the awesome games will come out so dont worry. Lair, GTA, Killzone, MGS, FF, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk...Need I say more?
4. Remote Play - Sony wants you to upgrade, who cares, its always been that way. If you want remote play that bad, then either upgrade to 3.10 OE or use devhook.
5. Your on a computer, why do you really need the ps3 browser anyway? Plus if you want it so bad dl linux and run a different browser.
The system is new, give it time. And if minor things bug you I cant help that. I'm just waiting for a couple more games to come out and Home and ill be completely satisfied.

I have had my PS3 for about a month and I really don't play it anymore. I was a little dissappointed with Resistance and the only other game I played was Motostorm. Motostorm was I nice game with nice graphics but nothing great. I did buy GOd of War 2 for the PS2 and played it in my PS3 and that game was awesome. I think the PS3 lacks some good games and launch and the online isn't that great. I still play the hell out of my Xbox 360 online. I have bought a couple of BLuray movies on ebay and they look great but I think my PS3 will be collecting dust till the put out some good games.

Well what can i say, you have two games and slag the machine off.
Trying not to repeat what Nyght has said:
I aint a fanboy but.
Try some other games, download the free ones, buy some.
Use Yellow Dog (Linux) and run two OS then you can switch browser and use ps3 as a "PC"
Use folding@home - If its collecting dust at least do something useful with your life and PS3
What are you wanting to link up psp and ps3 for at present?????
Online play is free - sure it could be better and we know it is going to be when HOME comes out. Stupid reason to slag of the ps3 IMHO
Games I own you may wish to consider
RFOM
Motorstorm - I see you guys have it - try setting up your own races online
Blazing Angels - Great Laugh - Good online too
Flow
Rub a Dub (Super)
Demos:
F1
RR7
GENJI
GT HD
Add me to your psn id list if you wanna go online for a game Uhura_Fighter (I'm in the UK)

Well I can see where you're coming from but a lot of the things wrong with the PS3 can be easily fixed. Eventually and ISO loader will come out so thats a plus... Home could be really good if sony doesnt screw up. The only problems I have with it are:
that wifi is unusable from linux.
The music player sucks, any decent-sized music library is a pain to go through. it needs a new interface that makes the huge ammounts of music the hdd can hold more managable.
No pc-ps3 networking options. I dont want to have to store a copy of all my music on my computer, a copy on my ipod, and my ps3, I'd rather just stream audio and video content from my pc

Firstly, this year will be the year for games. Look at the release list for this year and then stop complaining.
Secondly, you can stream music even without linux installed, but you wont be able to do a lot of others things while doing so, like play games. But you can still do it.

I don't really think the ps3 lacks a lot... I havn't played mine as much as I thought I would, but I only have one game. It's not the machine at all...

You need the orb - this app will allow you to stream from your pc - music, vids, photos

Yeah orb is a pretty awesome program. And you can use it for any pc that you want so its not limited to the ps3. Even the 360 and wii can use it too.

Since I first posted this about a month ago, I have purchased a couple of new games and downloaded everyone possible.
I now own:
- Resistance
- Oblivion
- Genji
- Untold Legends
- Enchanted Arms
And Im still growing bored of the PS3
The one thing that keeps me from unplugging the system is Playstation HOME. I do not know when it is going to come out, but this is probably the only think I am looking forward to in the PS3's future as of now.

Its actually not that hard to get enough money for a PS3.
Since so little of their product is being moved, crazy deals and promotions have been put into effect. I actually only paid $350 for my PS3, 2 Controllers and 1 Game. Thats the main reason why I bought the System. I went out to rent a Game, and ended up buying the PS3.
I think it was about 2 weeks of work (1 paycheck) to afford all of that with some left over

And it was a P/T job Lol

Yeh, the main thing Im looking forward to is PS3 Home and WarHawk
I got a Sony Email about WarHawk, really sparked my interest in that game. If you dont know about it, try checking out some of the Trailers.
This game has some potential

the only problem with it right now is the lack of games but then theres games like oblivion which last pretty much forever. Cant wait till the gtas and the metal gears though...

I disagree with pretty much EVERYTHING said in the initial post. Remember, the PS3 is in its early days, remember how the PSP was? Im almost positive the games will improve and the best titles are yet to come- on hordes. Also, firmware upgrades which will offer more functions and features will undoubtedly be released. Im holding on for awhile myself. We all know the PS3 will be king in a years time...only time will tell!

FAN BOY! Hahah Jk Allsorts
Yeh I wrote this so long ago,
And since then, I have tried many of others things with the PS3
As suggested mainly by Nyght, and well, my PS3 no longer sits in its box
The one thing I havent tried, is running an OS on it
That ordeal kinda scares me =P
But where exactly do YOU think the PS3 is heading?
NyghtcrawleR
May 17 2007, 10:46 PM
Heading you ask? In the right direction I think. This fall/last quarter of the year is when you will truly see what the ps3 can really be. And that will only be the beginning. With the release of HOME and big name titles you will see the PS3 gain a lot in popularity. Thats my opinion and pretty resolute on it.

lmfao! Nah i aint a fan boy..I just want Sony to own the 360 and wii...and be the ''king'' again, and again

May 18 2007, 02:48 PM
Hahah, whenever I say stuff like that, I get called a Fanboy =P
But whatever, I guess I am kind of a Fanboy because I think the PS3 needs time to develop
Can you be a Fanboy with a PS3 and a 360 Elite? =P
NyghtcrawleR

I guess you would be a non-wii fanboy then.

Naw I dont have anything against the Wii to be honest
Not the biggest fan of its games, but I dont hate the system
I heard this for the first time the other day:
Sony Fans - Cows
Xbox Fans - Lemmings
Wii Fans - Sheep
PC Fans - Hermits
Hahah, I dont see why Sony Fans are Cows though? =P

i think...that needing a HD tv to play the ps3 is kind of a disadvantage because not everyone that wants a ps3 has a HDtv
YMD

As someone who owns a ps3, I'm going to say it's only current drawbacks (to me) are:1. A dearth of genuinely good/great games. A few are out, and ps3 owners keep getting baited by promises of great games to come, but they aren't here en masse or in many genres yet. Thankfully, this is partially answered by the additions in the next few months which should see some good games both in the form of titles that have been hyped for a long time and a few semi-surprise titles. (Heavenly Sword and Folklore, for one from each group.) I am specifically waiting for a worthwhile rpg though, and that seems far away and may be a title that will be relegated to solely the two upcoming FF titles.2. It could seriously use xmb intergration during gameplay to allow for custom soundtracks. I understand that this is billed as part of the home update, but that is admittedly a beta, and on top of that, it was also promised in the last update, 1.9.3. While the demos are certainly welcomed, the content in the store could use to be greatly expanded, especially when it comes to buying games for the backwards compatible library. I don't mean to suggest every title ever released on both ps and ps2 should be immediately available, but, it would be nice to see most of the better titles up, and/or potentially improved slightly.4. Better internet security. Seriously. The ps3 hasn't been hacked to death yet by people who want to fish for credit card numbers and the like, but it's not really safe to put your information out there.

You don't need one. I've played my ps3 on both a regular television and an HD television and while HD showed finer detail and in certain games made a significant difference, it doesn't ruin the experience to have a regular television. It wont be like you'll be unable to read messages in-game, like the tiny print in "Dead Rising" without HD... at least, insofar as I know.
