IGN has up a feature in which they interview John Koller the Senior Brand Manager for Sony and they ask him how Game 3.0 will effect PSP as well as what changes are in store for the handheld.

The PSP's role in Game 3.0

"It's a developing situation for us with PSP in terms of Game 3.0. What we've always stated is that PlayStation Portable is the cultural currency between all of our products here at PlayStation. "

The PSP and Home

"All I can really say to that is what Phil Harrison mentioned, that PSP certainly has a place within the Home dynamic. We're still looking at ways to optimize that, and I think more info will be forthcoming soon on what that is."

PlayStation Network features

"There's a place for PSP inside the network as well -- that's the same as with Home -- and what that place is will be revealed soon."

PSP's Future

Mr. Koller goes on to say that they are working on advancements to the PlayStation Store and Sony Connect and those as well as the GPS and Camera will be revealed in time. Most of his answers referred to changes in the future and in speaking of the future of PSP, Koller said, "We're extremely excited for it. I was talking to a group a week or two ago, we were saying that this really is the year for PSP. This upcoming calendar year is going to be fantastic. There are a ton of initiatives that are going to kick off, that are about to happen, that will be announced soon, all of which will be very exciting from a variety of perspectives."

Interesting stuff indeed. I can't wait to see what Sony has in store for my favorite portable.

Only sounds interesting because they are pumping it up. Just like every other console out there. Everyone knows they are doing this for the dough, they are going to find every little way to nickel and dime you. I mean its not enough to pour your pockets on a 600 dollar ps3, or a 250 dollar psp...(that you cant "LEGALLY" use to your advantage)...Well now i see they are 199...big whoop. They have to keep on coming out with new firmware, I mean wtf? Its not like the upgrades are all that good. Why dont they give us a machine for what we all want it for...and make it LEGAL. Set it up so we can save our games, interchange them, do all that crazy shit. I bet they would make a killing if they could make some sort of free game swap. Set up the iso's or cso's or dax for us so we could trade them and always have a new game. Or give us credits or something. I dont know, i probably dont make sense, but I'm tired of all this crap. They pump everything up, then it turns out to be crap. Like the GPS and Camera! WTF is the GPS used for??? A game??? WTF!!! They know what we want with that!!!!! Make the damn software to go with it when the shit comes out so we can use it for driving directions and mapping. The camera...I cant believe that piece of junk...My cellphone has a better camera then what sony puts out! Sony needs a reality check, give us what we want or Fuq off. As far as I see it, Nintendo has them by the balls.
