First, please excuse my ignorance. I'm a long time user in ps2-scene.org and have recently acquired a PSP w/ 1.5 firmware from my nephew.

I saw this description in an ebay ad: "What I have for auction today is a Sony PSP with a custom 3.10oe-A firmware. What this means is you get all the benefits of the latest software to play all the newer games coming out and also you can still play those homebrew applications with firmware 1.50. Yes it can go between both firmware's with a simple push of the button. Pretty darn sweet if you ask me."

I'd like to do the same on my PSP. Can someone please lead me to the right direction? Thanks!!!

Hi AlpineMan, I came to this site via ps2-scene.org as well.
You're lucky that you're on 1.50 firmware, you don't need to worry about downgrading.

All you need is a 3.03 OE-C Easy Installer: http://www.psp-spot.com/forums/303OE-C-eas...ler-t33797.html
Or a 3.10 OE-A2 Easy Installer (I don't seem to have a link for that to hand, I'll get one later or you could find one).

A feature list for 3.03 OE is here: http://www.psp-spot.com/forums/index.php?s...mp;#entry213317

Ah....thanks for the links!!! I'll try to find the ones for the A2. So is the recommended firmware upgrade to go to 3.10OE-A2?

Thanks again!

You're welcome.

About the recommended custom firmware upgrade, there is some debate between 3.03 OE-C and 3.10 OE-A2 being the best; I'm currently on 3.03 OE-C (as my profile shows), but 3.10 OE-A2 is a later version.

can anyone tell me the differant between the two fw.. I have a 3.03oe-c and dont know if I should change
NyghtcrawleR
Basically...
3.03 OE-C -- Offers customization of your xmb. Many have reported better iso compatibility too.

3.10 OE-A' -- Higher fw, 4th brightness setting, and now if you have a ps3 you need 3.10 to use remote play unless you devhook it of course.

Personally I'd stay with 3.03 OE-C

Also:
3.10 OE-A2 - better PS1 emulation support, especially of PAL games

But I've still stayed on 3.03 OE-C as I haven't found a game that actually needs 3.10 yet.

damn I thought it ment you can actually switch back n forth with some kinda new thing... but yea.. i guess you can go back n forth.. just takes longer than "a push of a button"
NyghtcrawleR
Well and you wouldnt even really need to go back to 1.50 for anything anyway if youre on a custom fw since it has all the abilities of a 1.50 plus more.

Since there's still debate on whether the better firmware to use is 3.10OE-A2 or 3.03OE-C, is there a way to switch between the two firmware with a push of a button? I know...what a noobie question!

To put it simply, no there isn't.

But really both are very good and have the features of 1.50, 3.XX, ISO loading and more in one (without even requiring "the push of a button" to switch between them).

If you need the links to the upgrades, just go to Dark_AleX's site. www.dax.lan.st It has the 3.10OE-A2 upgrade also.
