According to internet rumors, several big retailers have warned unless Sony do something to spark up demand for the PSP, they will have no option but to remove the 'slow selling' system from their shelf space! According to the PSP's marketing manager , Sony is definitely planning something on par with the scale of PS1 and PS2. One thing revealed was that the screen will not be changing in size.

quote:

According to Koller, Sony did share plans that got retailers excited. Of course, what these plans were exactly, he wouldn't say. Could they be new PSP colors that have been previously shown and released in Japan and Europe? Or could they be the redesigned PSP with 8 GB of flash memory that's been rumored for ages? Or could they be the launch of some new PSP video/music download service? We'll likely have to wait a few more weeks to find out.

And whether it's coming soon or later down the road, a redesign for the PSP is in the works. According to Koller, Sony is in the process of reducing parts and potentially adjusting the size -- similar to what's been done with the PS1 and PS2. "I can at least say this much, the screen won't be changing in size," he said.

Cut the sticker price in half will be a good start.

Right in half eh...Highly doubt that would happen. Pretty much can guarantee that actually.

i dont see why developers will drop the psp considering it's success...

With the launch of the PS3 just around the corner in Europe i would expect sales of the psp to pick up for a few months - when sony allow them to be linked up anyway.

Cutting the price in half - sure that would work - dont see it happening though

I think they just have to create either some type of gimmic to catch the eye of more customers
or they could break out what they have been planning for the PSP sonner than later.

i think a drop in price to 149 would suffice for ppl, and still charge 199 for the entertainment pack for those who dont know other sites to buy that stuff for cheaper. Its not attractive spending a good wad of money on a handheld if you dont know half of its capabilities.

Mwoah already given comment in almost exactly the same thread.

Hey all,

i'm from New Zealand (don't ask, you've probably got google earth...) and before I got my psp I did alot of shopping around here in NZ.

I noticed, over here, that ALL the retailers have dropped the value pack and the only stock the 'core pack'. I asked one of those robots working in a department store (Noel Leeming):
ME: "Are you planning on getting the value pack back in?"
DRONE: "No we're getting rid of all the psp stuff."
ME: "WHY?!"
DRONE: "The psp is at the end of its life and we have the ps3 comming in in a few weeks, there will be no market for it anymore."

What a freaking knob!!! This guy clearly didn't know his stuff. And anyway if they were actually get rid of the psp what a poor sales man! He virtually told me not to buy one!!!
