i decided to remove the dust from my V1.5 Japanese PSP (Original) and play again. :-)

From my colleagues i know, that the newer versions are able to surf in the internet. but upgrading to a higher firmware lv would kill my hombrew ability.

1. is it possible to run a higher firmware under my V1.5 while not overwriting it ??

2. Is a better homebrew browser available ??

Just install the latest custom firmware from dark alex. 3.10 OE or something. You'll be able to use all the homebrew and all the newer features from the original sony firmware, including internet browser.

I don't know which homebrew browser is good, I use the sony one and it works good enough for me.

install 3.10 oe-a, thats what I have.

your lucky it's at 1.5, a world of homebrew is available to you. enjoy, btw i have 3.03 OE-C and love it

I would say upgrade to 3.03 OE-C. It is probably the best firmware out there and it gives you the best of both worlds. The benefits of upgrading are numerous and worth it. Custom firmware is the new way to go.

If you use the easy upgrader from this site the chance of bricking is pretty much nil, so I would highly recommend it.

But apart from that, if you want a homebrew browser, Links2 is probably your best choice. Its fast, but unfortunately not very compatible with most websites

i agree, 3.03oe-c is easily the best you get the browser, load ISO's from game section. not sure of any other bowsers though , sonys seems to do me good!

go with custom firmware my man................i suggest you get 3.03 oe-c.....................you can do like anything on that!!

Man i feel like such an arse for upgrading. The innocence of a young mind.

2 things you could do

1. install custom firmware like many others have said

2. use devhook and emulate a higher firmware that allows you to use a web browser
