Ok so this article from Kotaku is all over so I thought I'd post it here for all of you:


Rumor: No Denying It, PSP2 Is Coming

And not only that, it looks like it's coming later this year. There have been rumors ever since the DS Lite hit that Sony was also planning a redesign of its portable. Some of those rumors have ground in reality, some of them are just wishful thinking. Nothing official has been announced, and Sony has shot down any chatter regarding a redesign saying it's not happening. With all this, PSP2 looks to be a pipe-dream — Like it's not happening.

Apparently, it is.

Various third party and highly placed sources state that the PSP2 is coming. Speculation is swirling around the industry, and third party publishers are hoping to tie their games to the PSP2 launch. Thing is, Sony has yet to pass along any information about when that will be. Meaning we won't see big third party titles at launch.

Word has it that a big announcement will most likely hit at E3 with Sony unveiling the redesigned portable. An announcement of launch date (which should be sometime 4th quarter) is entirely possible as well. The redesigned product apparently does exist as this is what we've heard so far:

The screen is gorgeous
The loads are faster
Improved buttons
Internal flash — 8GB
Possible touch-screen
Possible built-in camera
Uses UMD
The recent blockbuster success in Japan should prove that the PSP is anything but dead and deserving of a make-over. Stay tuned!

Hey No Mention of Bluetooth and Wireless G!! Come ON! These are essential Features to be added!

Another Cool feature would be a configurable FM transmitter to wirelessly connect audio to the in car Audio system!

Those are some not bad idea's and the bluetooth could be a very handy feature for the PSP. I think a PSP2 is a great idea and would probably sell pretty well.

ya but do u think u could still use isos on it?

Well i would purchase the PSP2 and probably never play it. However, if it is a reality it would make a great edition to our network of websites....

somehow i doubt its gonna be anytime soon. I dont want it to come soon either. Im saving up for a ps3 and i dont want to spend more.

I'd wait to buy it, I'm not psp genius so I'd have to go with what the programmers could set up for it. It would be sweet if they would just give in. And make it so you could use the isos and all. I know they would lose money. But if they could change the whole buy the disc and screw it up deal, then that would be cool. But who knows? Psp2 would be cool if it had the bluetooth feature, wireless g, camera, voip, basically everything!!!!

Doenst matter to me if there comes a new one, just hope it can be ahcked

See.. I'm not sure if I entirelly believe this. The PSP has yet to achieve it's potential, and even Sony has admitted that in the past.

Sony is notorious for making a console live it's life fully. Look at the PS1... it was rebadged, repackaged, and resold over and over, and games eventually squeezed every bit of life from the unit.

The PS2 is just now achieving that same goal... that is, stretching it's limits beyond what it can handle. That's why the introduction of the PS3 was feasible (even if the pricetag is NOT).

Personally, while I kind of like the idea of a new PSP.. I can't believe they'd produce it with the unit just now starting to come into it's prime.

I also find it funny that this story breaks on the same day that Samsung announced their new 8GB flash chips were shipped out to manufacturers. I call BS on this one.

i still dont believe this. first off, the rumors are INSANE and there are starting to be more and more of them.

but, this one sounds the most legit, but i wouldn't get my hopes up too too soon.

i wonder if they would keep comming out with new updates for the reg psp after psp2 is released, if they stopped psp1 would become completly hackable.

The release of PSP2 will be sad...It marks when my $250 investment is outdated and no longer Sony's (and hombrew's) main focus. However if it does use UMD that would be good seeing as how I have about 10 UMD games already...

thats freaking awesome, built in camara, 8gb, but what about my psp? will it just be put into the back room and forgoten

well that would be great but the thing is could we be able to run homebrew with it? definitely sony will tighten things up...

I think Sony would make it tougher to run homebrew. I would like a psp2, and the built in camera sounds good. Well, whatever they decide to do, i will buy it.

i dont think it will have touch screen. too much like ds. i wouldnt like the touch screen to affect the games and how they are played. but it definitly have a built in camera. i was also hoping for more than 8 gig o well. i would also like bluetooth and hopefully the camera will also be able to take 5 minute vids. i would also like a 2nd anolog stick!!

It is supposed to have the same screen size, no shrinkage even though it is supposed to be smaller and lighter.

sounds great but it makes me wonder why i bought my psp in the first place if they were just going to make a better one in less than two years. i'm not too excited about it and i hope it gets released a bit later than what they're supposed to have planned. i've only got enough for a ps3 at the moment and i couldn't possibly live without either
either way it's just a rumor and i hope it stays like that.

I agree with one of the previous posts, skepticism should be the key word here.
I think they're just gonne make something like a PSP lite.

I will probably pick one up, I would like a hard drive in it. i think that would be pretty sweet

i agree with what the other people said. if this is coming out its not gona be right away. if people found out that psp2 is coming out right away no one will buy the psp thats out right now. and psp sales are bad enough

yeah a new psp, a new motherboard, can sony stop dark alex and co from hacking their beloved portable jewel? we got the best seats in the theaters
