Do you know this guy? even if you haven't seen his picture, you definitely know his company: He is Michael Dell and once upon a time his company was an MBA example a pioneer supply chain. But recently Dell Computer has faced a lot of problems. Business Week puts it this way:

The hardware maker's once industry-leading "build-to-order" supply chain systems are now the norm, and it's fallen behind in design -- areas where competitors such as Apple and Sony excel. Customer service has deteriorated since it was outsourced to India so that customers can no longer rely on timely and informative service.

As a result of this issues, Michael Dell had to step into the field as a returning CEO to do a supply chain turnaround. Hiring former CEO of Selectron and developing plans to move supply chain headquarters to Singapore are the early signs of his plan. But what do you think Dell should do in today's tough PC market to maintain its position? Do you really think that changing a senior executive matters?

Personally, I think strenthening customer support will help the company.
I have owned several computers from several company over the years and through these ownerships, I have yet get a single answer that will help solve my computer problems beside something they all seem to have in common: fomat your computer. I know there are a lot of variances in the computer world based on hardware and software but format your computer when it's still fresh from the factory?

I dont know about this one. I have never been a big fan of Dell anyway. Seems that all of the Dells I have encountered have run into some issue here or there thats a pain in the neck. I just dont think their actual computers are as quality as they used to be.

Most of the Dell computers I've seen are pieces of crap. They are made using extremely cheap parts so that they can be sold at extremely low prices. If you customize your order, you can get a pretty decent computer, but you'll end up spending more than you would for a Mac, which would be better anyway.
