I have a PSP running 3.10 OE-A', and I have a few ISOs that work fine, so I know the machine is a runner.
However whenever I try to rip a PSX game to play, or dump a UMD, I encounter the eternal black screen after the first logo. I have tried ripping with UltraISO to .ISO, .BIN, and .IMG and have used several different popstation GUIs but the result is always the same.
Similarly, when dumping a disc, I have used UMD SSS as well as UMD Dumper 0.2. In all cases I get a nice image of the disc which I can open with archiving software, but which the PSP, after showing the intro images and tune in the main interface, fails to run.
Most help around is for 3.03 versions of the firmware - is anyone else having these problems with the latest stuff? Or does it seem like I am doing something wrong?

For the PS1 games, you need to make sure they are converted to EBOOT.PBP format, and are in their own folder in "ms:\PSP\GAME\".
For the PSP games, have you tried disabling NO-UMD and putting a UMD in the drive?
If you still can't get it to work, you might want to consider downgrading to 3.03 OE-C, as it is more stable than 3.10 OE.

Have you tried downloading a game just to see if it works instead of trying your own copies? I would try that to determine if its you or your psp.

I got the "black screen of death" last week. I was making some adjustments in RECOVERY MODE, then when I exited out my was just just black. nothing loaded and I tried to power off but that didn't work either. I finally had to pop the batt out and pwer it back on from that point. I don't know exactly whtat it is but one of my other PSP buddies said that I happens when you tweek with the processing speedand UMD speed. Don't know how true that is.....

I have some ISOs that someone gave me on DVD that work fine so I know she will work, its just that nothing I try seems to do the same trick. I'm dumping an uncompressed Gzip file of GTA now, it's in its second hour and I'll try that UMD enabled trick on it if I manage to convert it to something useful. Trying to make a DAX image just crashes the PSP, and an ISO image, although seeming fine, does nothing when it comes to the crunch.
And as we all know, the crunch is where it counts.

Only for PSX games. I managed to get a working ISO of Vice City - but sadly it suffers from terminal lag during gameplay, so I'm not there yet.

I'll second that. I had some trouble at first with 3.10 OE and so I thought it was t3h FW when I went back through it was the games themselves not the FW. Since I have started downloading from here I have yet problems 3.10 OE runs very smoothly for me now.

Send me the files and I shall tinker with them and see if I can get it working.
