Figured i should make a topic about this, so we dont flood out the wab downgrader topic.

But yea, looks like the movie has been leaked, a dvdrip xvid (which means its a bit lower quality than a straight dvd rip, but still very good). Most the torrents only come with jap subs, but if you click Here (right click, save link target as, then after getting rid of any other .sub files in the directory, put in the folder with the avi movie file.), you can get the english subs, which seem to be working very good for me. Im not sure if they are 100% accurate or what, but they'll do.

The rumor is that tomorrow with the retail release of the movie in Japan, it will include official english subs. opinions have been 50/50 varying on what sites you read.

Right now im going to work on a mp4, so i can fit it on my psp, wish me luck, lol.

Lmao, yea, it was a crime to even have 'final fantasy' in the title of 'The Spirits Within'. That movie was terrible.

Just got done watching Advent Children, all i can say is it is awesome, the fight scenes, the graphics, the music. Definately suggest everyone to check it out.

The Spirits Within had nada to do w/ any of the FF games which baffled me...why would Squaresoft allow them to come out with that film.

What size did the movie come out to once you made it to mp4 format?

Well very few of the Final Fantasy games have anything to do with each other so why shouldn't a movie remain true to that ideal? I enjoyed The Spirits Within on a purely visual level. The movie did look beautiful. Shame about the plot.

at the highest settings you can get with psp video9, it came out to 648mb. im sure i could make it lower, but i always set everything as high as it can go, wont have to worry about it being all pixelated.

I was able to get it to go down to 437mb. It is a bit blurry, but is still very watchable.

heh, its gunna take a while to download eh? tongue.gif

some sites have now released a straight DVD rip. its 3.9gb, the video is supposedly untouched so its pure dvd quality, and comes with swedish & english subs. might be the best one to choose.

blink.gif Lets say I wanted 2 make a dvd How do I go about adding the subs blink.gif
Thanx 4 the Help...
Ninkul
You could use DVDLab? I know that does something with subs, i used the trial for a while, its quite cool happy.gif

Is there any way you can play the file directly with subtitles instead of having to re-render the whole thing in virtualdub?
stevenz
Depends. If it's a proper dvd rip with subtitles as an included stream, then any dvd playing program should be able to display them, failing that, you can burn the files to a DVD and play them in a proper player and select the subtitles. Or you can extract the subtitles into a file with "VobSub" and some apps will automatically see the subtitle files and play them (you can even encode to AVI and use the same external subtitle file with something like MediaPlayer Classic).

Actually re-editing video data and messing around with subtitles is a major pain. The only "easy" ways I've found of doing it involves using commercial software. The method(s) of doing it with freeware apps are pretty complicated.

If you want to turn a DVD into an AVI with subtitles included, the best way I've found is to use AutoGK or GordianKnot. Then you can dump the AVI into PSPVideo9 to turn it into an MP4.

Finally got around to encoding EuroTrip with the forced subtitles for the 2 scenes that need them. Great movie, and now in portable form! smile.gif

Im trying to get it to play on my comp :S lol

looks like ill be re-encoding with subs overnight *sigh* lol

though itll take like.. 3 hours maybe... meh, lol.
Bezerker
I used Winavi, to convert the avi to dvd format. It took 39 minutes. All you gotta make sure is that you have the defilerpack or k-lite codec package so that you can control whether the avi has subs or not.
Ninkul
>.< subs went outta sync in my re-encode. bah, all that leaving computer on overnight for nothing, lol.
Bezerker
yea, i'd suggest winavi. works like a charm.
Ninkul
Didnt know how to resub with winavi so im just using vdub again, i tried it again at a teenie tiny resolution just so i could see if it would sync and it did, then i did like the first 5 mins and that worked fine (was immidiately outta sync last time).

Yeah. hmm
NeoGhost
I just spent an hour re-encoding and the entire crap is out of sync.

Im trying to merge the english subtitles onto the divx file so that i can view on my divx player. I used Virtual Dub and like i said, it is way out of sync.

craptastic.

I know DivX6 supports subtitles but... how may i ask? :S

yay, mine worked but its 16mb bigger than the origona, forgot.. bits not bytes tongue.gif or whichever way it was around wink.gif

edit:
well, after watching it... wasnt that great... WAY too much hype about it, ill let you be the judge though wink.gif

the 25 min ova 'Last Order' has hit the net. This is the extra dvd that you wouldve gotten if you paid $320-$500 for the limited edition. It explains what happens before 'advent children' (basically a retelling of ff7).
NRGFORCE
I found it not so great either.. there were some cool scenes but very standard story...
ravenslayer
just saw it, this movie is fucking great
A great story , amazing cg animation and great soundeffects

wub.gif FF-7 KICKS ASS!!
The Movie was AWSOME...
I hope they realese it in Theaters. sad.gif

yeesh, i didnt like much of it. Theres just lots of action and not much story and where did everyone come from in the "big battle" against "that creature" (im trying not to spoil it as much as i can). Theres heaps of stuff that doesnt make sense in it as well like the whole kadaj thing and how sephiroth comes back is rather stupid dry.gif.

*everything in quotes is trying to un-spoil stuff tongue.gif
