I'm new to the psp modding and exploit scene. Ive exploited my ps2 successfully and I'm well versed in computer skills and the mumbo jumbo along with it.

I had a 2.71 psp fresh from the store. I used the TA-082 easy downgrader to FW 1.50. After that I installed the latest release of DevHook (0.52 bundled with psarDump).

Finally on to the question, lol. I was wondering does DevHook act as just a program that emulates FW 3.03? If so then could that mean I could just go alone and follow the detailed instructions and just install Dark_Alex custom firmware 3.02 OE-A and then upgrade to 3.02 OE-B?

I'm asking this because I know you can't have two firmwares in the same flash spot.... and I DO NOT WANT TO BRICK my damn psp in anyway, lol. Common sense. Thank you for reading and thank you for replying if you do.

I dunno why i installed it, lol. but can i just follow the normal instructions and install 3.02 OE-A? or ...... well here is DevHook a custom firmware or just a application/program?

DevHook is just a normal application, it is not custom firmware.
However, if you used the flash option in DevHook, I would recommend unflashing it first (from the same menu in DevHook).
If you didn't use the flash option then you should be able to install 3.02 OE normally without any problems.

i dont think u need devhook for now, 3.02oeb is the way to go, dehook 0.523 only emulates up to 3.03 and i dont think there are more than 10 games which need 3.03 to play. go ahead and install 3.02oeb which is a excellent piece of customize firmware!

i did use flash install..... thank you all for your replies and taking the time out to even write something. i figured it wud be something along those lines..... now once i uninstall it from the flash, whats another way i cud install this besides flash or w/e so i cud still use devhook if i ever needed it again? i have a 4gb stick, so i think i have enough space to keep it for later use, lol.

After you uninstall it, you can still reinstall it again any time you want.
But when you get 3.02 OE (or even 3.03 OE as it should be coming out soon), you shouldn't need DevHook again.
And even if you did want it, you can just reinstall it in 3.02 OE.

I haven't tried it so I don't really know.
But I think I read somewhere that DevHook flashes to flash1 and 3.02 OE is on flash0 so it should be fine.
I can't guarantee that though.

But now that 3.03 OE-A has come out, there's no real reason to use DevHook 0.52.
The only possible thing I can think of is to use DAX/JSO file formats, but CSO is good enough.
