Sony corporation has had many flaws with the PSP. The UMD movie was a dud, and the UMD video game could have gone better. Sony never had a video dowload system (or for that matter, any download system) like iTunes. The Sony PSP is looking into a bright future with the upcoming 2007 year, here are the top ten reasons why Playstation Portable will flourish in 2007:

1. New or redesigned PSP

- Many rumors have been floating around about a PSP2 and a new style of the PSP. A redesign of the PSP will include a new hard-drive, and a flip up screen (maybe). These new features (especaily hard-drive) will get me listening and wanting to buy the new PSP

2. New add-ones

- As most of you know, the PSP has gotten 2 new add-on features: The camera and the GPS. Although the camera is considered less effective and useful as a camera phone, it still takes pictures and displays them on the psp's screen. The GPS will be great because most people carry their PSP with them and I'm sure you would like to know where you are (I would).

3. Playstation's release in Europe

- Although the PS3 has been released in the United States, it has not in Europe. March 2007 will be the release of the PS3, so many users will buy that and a PSP so there can be such things as remote connectivity and download-able PSOne games.

4. Price Drop

- The PSP has seen many price cuts and risings as well. Over the Christmas season many stores have been lowering the price so they could sell more. Now Sony is thinking of doing this worldwide and we would maybe see prices drop below $200

5. Download-able content

- Movielink and CinemaNow have joined with Sony to, what seems to be, a new video download service for the PSP in 2007. This will bring in a whole new ring of consumers because now we can download movies, videos ECT with a click of a button (maybe a small price, like itunes)

6. Gran Turismo

- Polyphony has released some new information about the development of the game , GT Mobile. This was thought to have been a rumor but has been revived since then. This will have many gamers intrigued because this game is wonderful and a really great racing game. This is still in the works, so cross your fingers, but don't raise your hopes too high.

7. Technical improvements

- As mentioned earlier, the new add-one devices to the PSP will attract a lot more people when they become mainstream and and sold to anywhere but Asia. I'm sure new advancements in hardware and technology will also become available to the average PSP user as well

8. Metal Gear Solid, PO

- This game is already out by me in the United States, but the EU release should have a dominating effect on gamers. By many sources and articles, this game is already considered "game of the year". I think that can be a little far-fetched, but it is also a really great game and is one of my favorites. I expect other games to surpass MGS, but i also think this game "might" have a run for GOTY

9. Nintendogs and such games

- I can already sense your question -- No. Nintendogs is NOT coming to the PSP, but some other games are. Animal Crossing will be a new wildlife game that should attract animal lovers and gamers alike. This will be a bold move, Sony says, because the gaming scene is predominately males, and this just doesn't seem "manly" if I must. Nintendogs was soley for the Nintendo DS, and I think it should stay that way. There should be a fine line between Nintendo and Sony, and I don't think Sony has crossed that line, just yet. (Will they ever?)

10. Sony looks back, refocuses

- Although i have predicted all these things for the PSP in 2007, I could be wrong. Sony has their heart set to a certain beat right now, but with one quick change, it can be uphill or downhill from there. Sony has done a good job in the past years, but I think they have really thought the 2007 year through and are finally going to appeal to the greater gamers. The PSP console might not be next gen (IE PS3 or X-Box 360) but its the best portable gaming system out now (at least in the US, maybe not in Japan). With new redesigns in the making, the PSP would come out to be number 1 in portable gaming technology and maybe #1 overall. We can only hope, right?

Give us your opinion, thanks.

Nice news post Harry1.

I'm particularly interested in numbers 3, 6, 7, 8, and 10.
Personally, I would hope that Sony tries to clear up its reputation after this year.
A new PSP might be good as well but I doubt that I'll have the money to buy another one.

Thanks, adw888, i wrote all the paragraphs myself, the numbers i got from pocketgamer, i thought it was very intereting

Let's just hope so...

I've been quite disappointed the past 2 years. Only a few quality games here and there. No good accessories. Mediocre service.

Maybe things will be better this year.
