All right .... Using VcdromX and codmaster's "exact audio copy PSP edition" I was able to replace the god awful music in burnout with my own custom sound!!!

Here's how to do it :

1. extract the ISO (in this case burnout)
2. find where the music folder is (in this case -
PSP_GAME\USRDIR\music
3. convert your MP3's or CD' using "exact audio copy PSP edition"
4. replace the music files with your tracks, making sure you keep the original filenames!
5. Rebuild the game using VcdromX
6. Play and enjoy!

I have only tested this with burnout but my theory is that codemasters tool convert music to a universal PSP sound format, so this should work for any game.

Please credit me with the find... Thanks!
ping33
that's really cool... I figured there was a way to do it but the Ripping software was the missing link.

I have had some issues rebuilding ISOs though using Nero... what other apps do people use?
snake
good stuff lemonX, will check it out later 2day!

Hi!!!i try'd it exactly the same way with burnout and it goes not!!!i am to dumb for this?i have used the exact audio copy psp edition for 1 musictitle and then i extracted the iso and replaced the first file like"EA Trax00.mus" with my musicfile.toc and renamed it to EATrax00.mus and then rebuild the iso and when i will go in the game on the soundtracks folder the first song goes not!!!? sad.gif what i'm doing wrong?renamed to .toc or??many thankz for anzwer and sorry for my english!!! biggrin.gif Ron from Germany
snake
i got a hold of the psp edition. Converted an average lengthed mp3 (size was 3.93mb). It saves it as toc file and the size went up to 4.06mb! Which is kinda large. Maybe need to down sample it..? Will test the file when i get home from work.
LemonX
EDIT ... Ive replaced 23 tracks in burnout and 4/23 dont play for some reason ... hrm ....
still good though

but you have named your files EAxxx.mus not EAxxx.toc or?
snake
lemonX - how big are ur music files after conversion? I just down-sampled an mp3 from 128kbps to 64kbps, and converted with EAC. But the output file size is the same, 4.06mb!
STYLEZ

thanks, nonzero!

Wasn't there a limitation on AC3 file sizes, possible that .mus files cannot exceed certain size as well woudl explain why 3 out of 23 did not work.

Anyways great news, gotta try this, now only if we could remap to MS location so instead of making new ISO's to change sounds, we just put new files in folder biggrin.gif
EVEVE
after ripping all music out of bo I thought of this idea... only I did not of this tool... but I get some error when I want convert mp3 to toc so it's useless for me smile.gif
snake
EVEVE - mp3 to toc works, try some other mp3
ping33
I too got errors from MP3 files... but no matter I made my Burnout 1.0 custom soundtrack with CDs...

this should really be posted as news on the mainsite... it's much better/more usefull then unsubstanciated web rumors :|
piddy
Just convert your MP# to WAV first, no crash then
piddy
... I meant MP3's of course ohmy.gif
flymrfreakjar
there wouldn't happen to be, by some miracle, a way to do this on a mac would there? Virtual PC doesnt seem to like EAC... *sob*
jza802k
Are the files kept as toc files or are they completely renamed to mus files? Thanks
LemonX
rename to the exact filename in of the original
in burnouts case "EATrax00.mus" - "EATrax23.mus"

NeoDraven
You rock, dude. It works perfectly. Do you know if there's a way to change the name of the songs? Thanks for the tip, though. This is one of the best finds so far for PSP.
superfro
Anyone have any luck finding the tracklist location???
superfro
Well check out Globalus.Bin it looked interesting.... just had some tittles in it but how would i be able to edit the bin file?
knalle
I'm working on an editor for the song tags. Finished tonight. Just need to do some testing.
DeathGrind
NBA street and Burnout works fine with custom soundtracks..going to try need for speed next
LemonX
Any game that has its music on its own (not inside a .bin, .dat etc) should work with this. ALL games should work with this as long as you can find the music. PSP games seem to use ATRAC3 for their games and thats what your converting to.
Just remeber to use the exact same filename including the extension when replacing files, other than that, this hack is easy.

btw I would LOVE an editing tool for the text, or even a complete editing tool for both text and songs.

also, i'll be posting an ISO of intelligent license with zelda music on blackcats-games in the next day. Makes an awesome puzzle game more fun!

ok how can i extract a iso when its already a iso??? if any 1 can help me out here that would be cool laugh.gif
MrSquishy
Actually, you can use a hex editor to edit track names in Burnout.

open Globalen.bin and look for S A Y. There are 00 values between all the text, and the track/artist/album names are split up. Its pretty well documented on MaxConsole forums.

You just need to keep the spacing the same. I ended up squeezing the info in where I could, shuffling between album/track/artist to use the spacing.

mad.gif or not lol thanks anyway

hey thanks man tongue.gif its good to see that there are still some nice ppl out there
paulpsomiadis
@LemonX - how did you get it to work? blink.gif

I've tried over and over to add my own custom tracks to Burnout using the Codemasters EAC proggy... huh.gif

...I know the files are converting correctly, as I can open the ATRAC3 EATrax##.mus files using Cool Edit Pro. rolleyes.gif

Problem is that Burnout simply REFUSES to play the tracks for some completely crazy reason? mad.gif

I've even tried converting the files MANUALLY using Cool Edit pro to convert WAV -> ATRAC3...still no luck blink.gif

I followed your tutorial exactly! And I'm using... wink.gif

1. ISOBUSTER to extract the ISO
2. Codemasters EAC or Cool Edit Pro for WAV -> ATRAC3 conversion
[I have installed the SONY ATRAC3 codec]
3. Burnout "BURNTAG2" editor to change the song names (and NOPE, this doesn't affect which songs play / don't)
4. OSCARS file renamer to rename songs to EATrax##.mus
5. VCDROMX or UMDBuild to rebuild

The ISO works fine...it just won't play custom tracks for some reason? huh.gif

Heck, I even followed the file name order that is listed in the TAG editor (EATrax 07, 10, 11 do not exist...apparently?) huh.gif

Are there limitations to song size and what are the original track numbers in the folder? (just wondering for comparison purposes...) dry.gif
LemonX
paulpsomiadis --- if you still can't get it work, use smaller mp3 files... the output atrac files should be b/w 2-4 mb, otherwise it may have a problem with them. try again.
sahre
WTH do i do with the FCD file?
Thornex
OMG thanks nice tip ^^
Fly_Stud911
Thank you so much i was thinking that no 1 was going to figure it out the music on it is horrible. blink.gif
