My borother upgraded his TA-082 PSP to 2.81, is there any hope of him running Devhook or hombrews or mounting ISOs?!?!

I still have 2.71 and run hombrew fine, but I cant play games like VIce City Stories that need 2.81, what do I do, can I run 2.71 from the flash then 2.81 from my MS via Devhook???

At present there is no way of running DevHook or (full) homebrew on 2.8x.
I think that there are some TIFF games, but nothing like emulators or ISO loaders.
And before someone asks, no there is not a downgrader for 2.8x at the moment, and no one here knows when or if there will be one.


You have the right idea, but emulation of 2.81 is not supported in the current version of DevHook (0.46).
There would need to be a new version to emulate 2.81.

However, you should be able to play an ISO of GTA:VCS by setting the "UMD SFO Version" option in the "OTHER" menu to "2.xx -> 2.00", and playing the ISO as normal in 2.71.

So I use an ISO?? What about CSO?? Or right off UMD?? Anyways, so jsut set UMD SDO version down?? Would it work in 2.71 off MS without upgrading or anything like that>>

ISO or CSO is fine.
You won't be able to run it off UMD without 2.71 SE.
And yes just set the UMD SFO Version to "2.xx -> 2.00" and the ISO will work in 2.71 off MS without upgrading.

Many people have reported GTA:VCS ISOs playing fine on DevHook 0.46 with the UMD SFO Version set to "2.xx -> 2.00".

And 2.71 SE is short for: Dark_AleX's 2.71 Special Edition Custom Firmware.
But you can't run it on TA-082 at the moment (or maybe ever, I don't know).

I may have a modeed firmware, when i start a game instead of the PSP SHite screen it shows animé pics! How do I know if I have it or not??

PS About the codec, I read somewhere [the manual I think], that the reason you need to upgrade is cuz the game needs a codec, maybe its just sony trying to stop Devhook users.... SO I dont need to upgrade?? Will I ever have to?? Or can I just keep doing this forever?

umm... not sure if u will ever have to to update and you could run the umd from 2.71 u can do the swap trick right when a umd starts (any umd as long as it don't require an update!) then u can just take it out really fast and insert gta in and bam! there u go it will work........ not sure if u can use the umd with devhook since i dont' ahve a game that requires a higher firmware than 2.00

PS the tiff exploit is patched on any firmware higher than 2.80

Just try running the GTA:VCS ISO and see what happens.

I think the codec thing is just Sony trying to stop DevHook users.

^^^That's what I was talking about a while ago. You come out of nowhere yelling at people for no apparent reason. He didn't say anything about his brother upgrading since his first post on the 14th, and he wasn't whining about it either; he was just asking wether or not there was any hope.
Anger issues are bad enough, but anger issues with people on the internet, I can't even think of the right words to describe how bad that is.

I told him not to upgrade but he said playing GTA VSc was worth it, but how he says we wants Devhook, bef ore he said I Give a F@#$ about it, when I had to stand in the snow with my PSP to download it!! Anyways, can someone let me know about a fix if there is one??

If there is a way of running homebrew / downgrading on 2.81 it will be on the front page of all the PSP news sites.
And that sounds a bit like someone I know; but he was tempted into upgrading to 2.71 by the LocoRoco Demo!
That was before the 2.71 downgrader of course and I've since downgraded his PSP to 1.50.
So just make sure he doesn't upgrade any further (2.82+).

Ill be shure the straighten him out!! Also be aware, we both have TA-082s and cant downgrade... I think it was in this thread where I can hear GTA VCS cna be player in Dev via 2.71 off MS.... He should do dat!!

But that's not the only thing, though. A teacher would keep their cool, they wouldn't let a bunch of questions piss them off. If a student was asking too many questions, a teacher would say "you have your book right in front of you, maybe you should open it up." At least that's what they say at Wyotech.

He didn't ask a damn thing about homebrew. And besides, there are homebrew enablers for 2.71.

And I heard from a bunch of people that the UMD doesn't work with DevHook, and that only the ISO works. For 2.71 at least.

for vice city stories i use devhook 0.51 which loads 3.01 firmware so it works perfect =D

U can even run an ISO off MS in 2.71 but it takes up lots of space.... Over half my 2GB ms....

You can't downgrade or use HEN on 2.81.
You can currently downgrade from up to 2.80.

0.01 makes a big difference, well let me know when theres hope..
