It is now possible to downgrade or unbrick any current PSP using Pandora's Battery.
However, a homebrew-enabled PSP is required to set it up.

The following downgraders do not require another PSP.

2.80 Downgrader
2.80 Homebrew Enabler (HEN)

3.03 Downgrader
3.03 HEN

Note that the 3.03 downgrader (and HEN) requires an original, unpatched Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories UMD to run.
However, you will only need the UMD once for the actual downgrade, you will not need it afterwards.

3.50 Downgrader (includes 3.50 HEN)
3.50 Exploit: "Illuminati" exploit found by Noobz.eu and Archaemic

3.11 HEN and Downgrader (corruption free)

Note that the 3.50 and 3.11 downgraders (and HEN) requires a real, original Lumines UMD to run.
However, you will only need the UMD once for the actual downgrade, you will not need it afterwards.

If you downgrade to 1.50, you will be able to install 3.40 OE-A (or any other custom firmware).
Here's a (non-comprehensive) feature list for 3.40 OE-A:
- play real UMD games (which require up to 3.40 firmware)
- play real UMD videos (and region-free)
- play ISOs (backed up UMD games) from the Game section of the XMB (and NO-UMD)
- run homebrew that uses the 3.40 kernel (put it in "ms:\PSP\GAME\", where "ms:" is your PSP memory card drive letter)
- run homebrew that uses the 1.50 kernel (put it in "ms:\PSP\GAME150\"); almost all homebrew goes here
- watch MP4 videos (put it in "ms:\VIDEO\" and it will come up in the Video section of the XMB)
- browse the web using the Internet Browser
- play PS1 games using the official Sony emulator
- prevents accidental firmware updates
- recovery mode (hold the "R" shoulder button when booting)
- plug-ins for extra functionality

Nice to see you found my info useful g4m30v3r.

If a Mod reads this, please make it a sticky/pinned topic on as many of the sub-forums as possible.
I cannot count the number of times I have said on here that 2.80/2.81 is undowngradable and cannot run DevHook.
NCS
I think it's because they get their psp, upgrade it to the highest firmware available, THEN find out about homebrew!

Silly n00bs...

There is always hope; even if there's nothing in development at the moment, someone might just stumble over something.

NEVER trust anything on YouTube, EVER.
I watched the video and all he has done is use DevHook to boot 2.71 or below and change the text to say 2.81.

If there was any slightest chance of a solution, it would be all over the front pages of the PSP sites.

I've updated the first post with links to the 3.03 downgrader and 3.10 OE-A.
In fact, I practically rewrote the post as, with all the edits, it was getting a bit messy.

It is now possible to downgrade from any firmware up to 3.03.

It is not yet possible to downgrade 3.10, if and when it is, this post will be updated.

2.80 Downgrader: http://www.psp-spot.com/forums/index.php?s...mp;#entry208480
2.80 HEN: http://www.noobz.eu/joomla/index.php?optio...35&Itemid=1

3.03 Downgrader: http://www.psp-spot.com/forums/Universal-D...ide-t34061.html
3.03 HEN: http://www.psp-spot.com/forums/index.php?s...st&p=224463

Note that the 3.03 downgrader requires an original, unpatched Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories UMD to run.
However, you will only need the UMD once for the actual downgrade, you will not need it afterwards.

3.10 Downgrader: Not yet available
3.10 HEN: Not yet available
3.10 Exploit: None found yet

If you downgrade to 1.50, you will be able to install 3.10 OE-A.
Here's a (non-comprehensive) feature list for 3.10 OE-A:
- play real UMD games (which require up to 3.10 firmware)
- play real UMD videos (and region-free)

- run homebrew that uses the 3.10 kernel (put it in "ms:\PSP\GAME\", where "ms:" is your PSP memory card drive letter)

- watch MP4 videos (put it in "ms:\VIDEO\" and it will come up in the Video section of the XMB)

- prevents accidental firmware updates
- recovery mode (hold the "R" shoulder button when booting)
- plug-ins for extra functionality

There's really no way of telling when a 3.10 downgrader will be out.
It is dependant on when (and if) and exploit is found for 3.10, allowing the running of unsigned code.
This could be tomorrow, next week, or next year; it is almost impossible to tell.

Man, I have 3.11 firmware... ugh... All my friends have the Version 3.03 OE-C and I feel dumb... ugh... But this time I am going to wait it out till the next exploit... yep yep

Alternatively, you could try selling your PSP and buying one with a lower firmware version.
There's really no telling how long until (or if) an exploit for 3.11 will be found.
BucDan
very intresting really...i wanna see a 3.1 downgrader so i can use it for my buddy that has 3.1 haha..he says he wants to do homebrew now amazing huh?

Yes, it is possible to downgrade 2.81. However, you need a real, unpatched GTA:LCS UMD.
If you have one, then you can upgrade to 3.03, then downgrade to 1.50.
RealG187
You should add 3.30 OE in there! Or maybe close this it's kinda old!

The custom battery and files on the memory stick will downgrade any firmware version, but you will need someone with a homebrew-enabled PSP to set it up.
Using Pandora's Battery, you do not need any UMDs.

The GTA:LCS and Lumines UMDs are if you don't have access to a homebrew-enabled PSP or can't get hold of Pandora's Battery, and still want to be able to downgrade.
proton_
ok now i get it, now it's possible to downgrade without the games and able to revive bricked psp, the two things, only with the custom battery and the files, got it thanks

Hi Fir3x, and welcome to Console-Spot. smile.gif

Which game are you having problems with? (if it's a newer one then it might need above 3.40 OE-A)
Have you tried changing the No-UMD settings in the Recovery Mode? (full power off and hold R when turning on to get to Recovery)
