HI,
I was wondering if there is a mod to prevent the autoboot of umd's in 1.5, I have custom firmware installed and the vshex mod too. btw, i changed the config.txt file to allow the sony computer entertainment system screen and that's why the umd autoboots on startup. so is there a way to prevent that from happening other than opening the umd door before turning on the psp??
thnx

No. The only thing you can do other than opening the umd door is set the parental control to 1.
When you do that, it brings up a message to put in the password and if you don't want to start it, press O. And when you do want to start it, just put in the password.
or just use a umd that requires a higher firmware.

The custom firmware I am running doesn't autoboot my UMD, although I normally only have the Demo Disc in the drive for DevHook. I just checked the Demo Disc and it requires updating to 2.0 to run, so jdm_ist was right; just use a UMD that requires updating (I thought it would show a message when you boot up, but it doesn't, it actually works very well).

Maybe for your custom firmware, it doesn't show a messsage, but for normal 1.5, it says "To start, you must update the system software" then you press O.

Why don't you just change the config.txt to not allow the SCES screen, haven't you answered your own question there? If you want the screen, the UMD will autoboot, if not, it won't (like I have my 1.5). In fact, in the config.txt for the Custom Firmware:
QUOTE
# Set it to true if you want to skip the $CE logo. In this way you can also skip
# the auto-execution of the umd that so many people hate

skiplogo = true;
Why do you want the SCES screen to show?

Just turn parental controls or something like that to 1. that will solve the umd autoboot.

I set the parental control to 1, but since i'm using the demo disc, this did'nt do anything, and it just loaded the umd, btw, this is the only umd that i have and i'm not buying another
