Full Version: DEVHOOK IN LEGAL ISSUES

What I have read is that Devhook has sony copyright protected content in it and Sony is trying to stop Devhook all together!
Heres what Ookm posted on his site:

Reboot_1.50.bin is the copyrighted material by SONY, that is mixed with DevHook0.43fix.
Warning from SCE to those who up-load DevHook0.43fix comes.
Moreover, please annul it at once when downloaded 0.43fix is preserved at hand, and it uses it.
Not seeing this knows and there is a possibility to use, too.
Please inform me of this when there is an owner in surroundings.
Moreover, the main body of DevHook and the relation file of all versions were deleted from this site.
As a result, opening DevHook on this site to the public is completely stopped

Sony has taken action on PSPSoftware.ddo.jp for distributing Devhook and have also requested them to notify someone at Sony when the uploader (Booster) is online.

One thing's for sure, Booster will need to find a new place to host his awesome homebrew. But seeing this happen, I wouldn't be surprised if SCE/Sony start going after sites who are hosting Devhook. Well, let's just wait and see how everything pans out. A small suggestion by me would be to download the latest versions of Devhook as soon as possible, just in case everyone is forced to remove them off their sites.

what ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

im in ta-082 2.6, i dont use devhook.

but this is an absolute bad news for the homebrew scene.

why be afraid to host devhook ?

firmwares are supposed to be for public consumption.

we don't buy firmwares.

Sony is taking action for the 1.50 reboot bin, not devhook. Devhook is completely 100% legal code that is not copyrighted, so it should be free to distribute. Firmwares are illegal because they have been decrypted into Sony's copyrighted files (i'm guessing).

the whole devhook is in danger because the reboot.bin is what makes it possible to run and without it the firmware can't be emulated like the 2.71 firmware none of the files are decrypted only the reboot.bin, also thats y the 2.8 firmware can't be emulated yet because no one has decrypted the reboot.bin and booster made devhook emulate encrypted .prx's somehow

it is naive to think that sony will be able to stop every single website out there from hosting the file, don't rush to download the latest versions, they will ALWAYS be available, be it through torrents, newsgroups, mirc, or websites that don't give a rat's ass what sony has to say, those files will always be available

If all else fails, there's always torrents.

you should keep it untill Sony go through more actions because it isn't "illegal" just yet (and so some of us get the full package before it does go illegal, if u don't have it anymore u should get it as fast as u can wink.gif )

The answer is obvious, sony wants to know who booster is as a scapegoat, so we must all take credit for being booster.

That said, I'm booster. Go ahead an sue me, seize my equipment and scan it, and when you don't find anything i'll counter sue the shit out of you.
