I went to Gamestop today and got a new PSP. It turns out to be a 2.50 and TA-082 PSP, which totally sucks. Any way, I don't want to make things worse by updating the PSP. I rented a couple of games this evening and while trying to play one, it says I must update to version 2.60. Is there a way around this given my current situation? Please email me your responses.

Thank you.

First downgrade to 1.5 and then use the new devhook that lets you emulate 2.6. Tutorials to do all these things can be found on this forum. Use the search.

I'm not uninformed. I've read quite a few tutorials and such on the topic. It would seem that with the TA-082 motherboard, that downgrading isn't yet possible.

Does anyone know what it is about this motherboard that makes it so unspecial?

I can't wait for a something to come out to let me be a homebrewer!!

Isn't the XBOX wonderful when it comes to modification?

I wish I was smart enough to figure this shit out on my own... I mean the original concepts. For those of you out there rockin' the free world, thank you and it's people like you that I'm fighting for!! Like I have a choice... Take care, and thanks again!!

I'm not sure why it's incompatible with the downgrader but for the Undiluted Platinum Modchip, it was because of a voltage issue. (it uses more or less volts than all of the other motherboards) Perhaps the same reason?

ok the psp's with the new mother board can't be downgraded because it has some security feature that disables the 1.5 IPL to be copied on it and there fore if u try to delete the flash0 files of the new psp then the 1.5 psp's wouldn't be able to copy onto the flash0 and if taht happens u will have a brick and thats the same concept that was wrong with the 1.5-->1.0 downgrade but dark_alex and sonyxteam foud ou thta tu have to copy the IPL to be able to reflash the whole psp

and yes u can play EVERY umd (as of today) on firmware 1.5 without having to update because of the new devhook that booster just released today enables u to emulate firmware 2.71 and with that u can play flash games/vid's and u can enable wma support

i tink that it is possible wif devhook 0.44 to set setting to load UMD and change firmware to 2.71...
