| There are a few improvements in the sequel to Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade, but ultimately it’s just slight update to the hack-and-slash formula. Thankfully, the budget for the game has increased and the game now contains cut scenes, voice acting, Internet play and improved graphics and sound. As in the first game, the plot is irrelevant and secondary to the hacking and slashing, but the missions have improved considerably. You’ll choose a class of fighter and soon be traveling around different settings and locations and slicing different creatures to pieces, with a boss fight thrown in every now and then for good measure. There have only been minor updates to the fighting mechanics. Charge attacks are created by holding down the attack button and deal a lot more damage but you’re confined to charging in the same spot without moving. You can also fill a meter which will turn your character into a beast. The beast mode is not very useful, as it lasts a short while and only slightly increases yout speed and attack. Finally, there’s the Attack of Opportunity where you can charge up an attack if you’re close enough to a stunned enemy (shown by the ring around them) and you’ll unleash a special move. Unfortunately, this rarely works as its unresponsive and often you don’t actually manage to successfully create the attack. Untold Legends: The Warrior’s Code has a lot to offer lengthwise, but it depends if you’re willing to put up with the repetitiveness. Plenty of quests are available and there is lots of opportunity to level up your character, equipment and abilities. However, there are only so many creatures you can carve up before it starts to become dull. How long this will take, depends on whether you like this type of game or not. Despite the changes, Untold Legends: The Warrior’s Code feels only like a slight update to its predecessor. Fans of the genre or of the first game will enjoy this update, but if you’re not sure, you may want to rent it first. ![]() ![]() |
