A recent retail report has provided the subtitle and release date for Konami's first true Silent Hill title for the PSP

Several weeks ago it was revealed that Konami was indeed working on an iteration of their popular Silent Hill series for the Playstation Portable, however little information regarding its nature or context was provided.

However recently, a retailer report derived from an updated release schedule from Konami has indicated that the game would be officially titled Silent Hill: Original Sin.

This latest news, right on the heels of the release of the unique PSP offering, Silent Hill Experience and the release of the film based on the series, appears to indicate that the upcoming addition to the series may take the form of an updated take on the original Silent Hill title for the Playstation.

If the retail report is correct, Silent Hill: Original Sin will hit store shelves on October 18th, 2006, to the delight of numerous gamers. The historic series has been consistently praised for its unique blend of action, exploration, and horror elements as well as storyline.

Fans awaiting information regarding the upcoming project from Konami shouldn't have to wait long as the Electronics Entertainment Expo is only a month away.
