Well, i did a test to see what the PSP's Maximum Speeds were... So i sent a file localy from my PC to my PSP, this gave me accurate results. I Did this test with a phew PSP's lent from my friends.

My PSP - Max Speeds Reached = 261.23KBps
Friend#1 - Max Speeds Reached = 258.52KBps
Friend#2 - Max Speeds Reached = 260.75KBps

(NOTE: This was done with the WLAN Power Save OFF)

So we can safly conclude the PSP's Max bandwidth is averaged around 260.16KBps
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So what?-
Well that basicly tells us the PSP is capable of many feets useing its Wireless Card.
Video and Audio Streaming is no problem for it, since most videos on sites like
Gamespot offer Hi-def Video Streams at 768kbps or so right? and thats only kbps....
NOT KBps, 768kbps is 96KBps.. and MP3's are only around 128-320kbps, thats
16-40KBps.. So yea.. people who say the PSP's card sucks, are wrong..
What u might be complaining about is either the crappy integrated browser
or ur crappy connection lol.....

i used my file server, and downloaded a test file from it, with the PSP's Integrated Webbrowser. Speeds were shown on the PC.

noddicarlo
it just has a sucky browser, and even then, once you get where you want to go, it is fast.

Updates -
Ok i used a homebrew application this time, and WOW... Major difference, i got speeds reaching 460KBps Not bad at all, but im blaming the PSP's Browser for the slowdowns, OH and Also, the memory stick could also be to blame.

P.S - Your welcome for the news update wink.gif Lolz
blazealwitcha
is this with the included memory stick or one that didn't come with the psp?

Edit - Ok i updated the homebrew app and this time i got more accurate results, speeds acully were reaching 490KBps... This is shocking lol, Kinda glad to tho, tells me the PSP is very capable of some very decent stressing on its wireless card. So im not particulary worried about ad-hoc gaming since that is just Directly connecting to other PSP's, and basicly im not to worried about the PSP's wireless capabilities. Who knows, mybe the to come Firmware updates well improve its performances, but of course it aint gonna get any better than its supposed to be. and thats 11b Wireless, The max speeds thoes reach is 1,408KBps. Amazing isent it tongue.gif
Erexx
the browser do suck yeah tongue.gif

Nice work! I was wondering what kinds of speeds this thing can achieve, and your findings seem correct. I use the iTunes RSS server app for streaming music from my PC (128k mp3 files) and for podcasts, and it rarely has buffering issues, unless I'm hopping from one HUGE file to another. Now, if they can just make the 3.0 FW browser revisions (things like functional javascript/flash, minimizable windows, being able to stay connected while playing music off your card, um...streaming video capability, being able to chose where files save, etc.) I will be happy. THe browser has SO much potential...unleash the beast!

If I may, which homebrew application did you use?Fired-up Browser?
