Ok so about September last year I bought a PSP. It was a Jap 1.0 and am loving my little machine. However recently the headphone jack has become damaged, not to the point its hanging out or anything but...
When I insert headphones I get either no sound or it plays thru one headphone only. The external speakers wont play sound either.
My question is how can I get this fixed? If I send it to sony I dont mind paying for it to be fixed, but am worried that they wont touch a JAP model if i send to Sony in the UK.
Anyone have experience of this or can make a suggestion as to how to fix it?

unless you are experianced in the area or know someone who is i would just leave it be. Call up sony tell them about your situation and see what they say. If they say that they won't touch it your best bet is to find a repair center in the UK that you can send it to.

I doubt they could help you as they would have to fully take apart the psp. Also, since your psp is from Japan, it would not be worth it to call Sony, they would charge to high $$$ as by now your warrenty has voided from them. Even if it wasn't there would be no use to ship it to Japan. Your options is to replace the speakers in your psp, or just leave it alone and bare w/ it. I suggest NOT trying to fix it as it reuires taking apart A LOT of the psp as tthe speakers are near the bottom of the psp so you have to go in deep. That sucks man.

WAIT!!!!
I have had this problem 3 times and it has nothing to do with your psp. Your headphones are messed up like mine are. just buy a new one.
Trust me it will work.

Your headphones are probably the problem, try using a diffrent set of headphones or use the media controler (it works sometimes). if you send it back to sony you run the risk of getting your firmware upgraded and if you are a fan of homebrew this is not a good thing. either try to get a new set of headphones, but you last resort should be to send it to sony. Or you could send it somewhere else where they dont upgrade your firmare, go to psp hacking and listen to communcate 2, i am sure they have an answer for you.
