Gamespot reports that if you pre-order Street Fighter Alpha 3 from the Capcom Website, you will get a free D-Pad cover. This D-Pad was released with copies of Alpha 3 when it was released in Japan.

Capcom points out that the pad “will work on most console and handheld systems on the market.” However, the D-pad is not an officially endorsed Sony product, and its permanent adhesive could potentially void the warranty on the system

This D-Pad is Capcom’s answer to previous complaints with Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower concerning the difficulty in pulling off the special moves on the PSP (a valid complaint). Hopefully this D-Pad will correct those issues.

Capcom plans to give out a limited run of PSP D-Pad covers when Street Fighter Zero 3 hits the Playstation Portable in Japan. No word yet on their U.S. plans. I didn’t have too many problems with Dark Stalkers on the PSP, but then again it doesn’t have as touchy a control layout as Street Fighter. I really don’t want to be spiking my PSP into the ground in frustration, so maybe this is a good thing.

Since analog control is enabled in this game, I prefer to use that:)

WOW!

Great idea Capcom has announced here. I hope that this will work without any problems...
Anyway Street Fighter for PSP, finally a great combat fighting game!

BTW: For Darkstalkers Chronicle I can pretty much agree, it was hardly playable for me, too.

So, does this replace the exsisting d-pad or just sit on top of it?

I can see why it would not be backed by Sony if it replaces ti altogether.

well it says "D-Pad cover"... I just can't see how it sticks on.... you would have to open your PSP if it replaced the original and I can't see Sony allowing 13-year-olds to open their PSPs and still have warranty coverage
