please help! i downloaded dead to rights, and as i was putting it on the memory stick i got today, i got a message saying one of the files couldnt be copied, then the entire copy stopped, so i put it in my psp to reformat it, and it said "format Failed". So then i ut it in my card reader in my pc and it said "windows could not complete the operation. its not responding to anything! Please, if u have any suggestions, help me. It is a 1gb card, so i feel kinda sick.

Thanks in advance

first you shouldnt format it always delete from yur usb drive

also if dead to rights says corrupt or cannot read file then just say ok

or emidiately cancel or just start the copy all over again or you could

do a jump from the memory stick and maybe yur putting it in rong
HELLS_MoNkEy
thanks for the reply mate, but what i actually mean is that it is not working at all. i cannot dlete from it, i cannot format it, i cant write more to it, i even tried saving a wipeout savegame, but that failed.
SaiyanDide
I would sugest you try to return the memory stick then as defective.
HELLS_MoNkEy
ok, the ebayer has agreed to replace it. What can i do to prevent it form happening again?. See, the game was dead to rights, so i put the DTR_GAME and UMD_data straight tp the k:\ directory. should it have gone in k:\PSP (actually inside the PSP folder)?

thanks for any help
SaiyanDide
Iono i havnt done anytrhing with loaders yet or even read on how to use them. But i think that the problem was a defective mem stick.
HELLS_MoNkEy
ok, thanks for the confidence boost smile.gif

off goes the duff stick tonight! biggrin.gif

try formating it while the psp is conencted to the pc through the usb. thats how i format my 1 gig through command prompt. and then have the directory structure bakked up and put it back on.
HELLS_MoNkEy
i have tried exactly what u just said lol, someone told me to do it on another site (i panicked and asked a lot of people for help tongue.gif )

thanks anyway

i have sent it back now anyway, and should recieve a replacement soon, assuming he doesnt look to see what files are on it tongue.gif
SaiyanDide
Sounds like he wont be able to see anything that on the thing.
HELLS_MoNkEy
unfortuanately, if u plug it in, u can see a couple of named files on there unsure.gif

Should note what brand stick you "fried" also.

I have gone through 2 - 1gb Sandisk "Gaming" PRO Duo sticks in the last week. I'm on stick #3 now and so far so good (/me crosses fingers).

I also received the BLUE sandisk 1gb PRO Duo today from online retailer - so hope this one turns out ok also.
HELLS_MoNkEy
yeah, i got theblue one wink.gif

i should recieve my replacement 2mo, but if this onefries, i will go with sony. i have heard that, although write speeds are slow, they are much more reliable. Plus, who relly ever needs to write stuff at super speed?

I had the same thing happen to myself with my 1st Sandisk 1Gb Gaming Duo stick.

I was copying data across to my mem stick when my PC crashed. It turns out that if your PC fails to complete the write operation, it will screw up your memory stick. Once screwed there is NO way of getting the databack or making the Mem stick usable again. You'll find that your PC and PSP will not detect the card (PSP will keep flashing the memory stick light and PC will take ages to read the stick then fail). I've heard that you can use an app on the Mac to recover the faulty stick, but since I don't have access to a MAC, I was unable to try this out.

I was lucky as I got a replacement from my local store.

The advice I would give is to make sure the data on your PC can be moved without error 1st, then connect your PSP via a USB mini cable, then perform the copy process again (PS also make sure your PC is not prone to crashing like mine, I use my laptop now without any problems :-) )

Man you are so lucky I heard this has happened to many people who mess with the wrong emulators isos etc. When ever you get something to use on your psp make sure it is from a reliable source.
HELLS_MoNkEy
there isnt really such thing as reliable in piracy tho is there? wink.gif
homeland
if we can't trust the piracy scene . who can u trust?
HELLS_MoNkEy
nobody

No problem Hell_MoNkEy,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I trying to remember where i'd heard about the mac s/w to recover mem sticks, i know on sandisks website they have a link to a media data recovery s/w site for recovering corrupted media and data files. I'm not sure if it will all reformatting of corrupted mem sticks, but it's always worth a try.

anyway, I remembered where I found some info on how mem sticks become corrupted. see link below:

http://memorystickdatarecovery.com/faqs.htm

hopefully, the info will help minimise the chance of it happening again to yourself or anyone else in the future.

I've got to apologise here as well, as I found the link on ps2nfo's forum, I know that there's a lot of people that don't like ps2nfo, but they do have some useful information.

I really think that this situation is only the `TIP OF The ICEBERG' as i too was playing DTR this week on my PSP + Sandisk 1gb and quit out, but unfortunately, i managed to fry the Memory Stick because now apart from the amber light flashing continuosly, nothing (PSP, PC, CardReader, even my Sony Camera) will recognise it which basically renders the stick absolutely usless! and to make matters worse, i bought mine from ebay and it clearly states in Sandisk's warranty clause that the Seller must be a recognised Sandisk reseller, problem is.. i don't think that the ebay guy was :<
