Hi
it's known that sony's umd is on only a mini dvd.
did somebody ever try to burn iso's to it, or is encryption necessary?
I think developement should go in the direction of using the umd-drive, because sticks are too small.

Yes, I know that this thread combined with my bad English seems to be kind of n00bie, but it isn't wink.gif

flashas, do a little research before posting ideas like that. The UMD disc format is not the same as the Mini-DVD format. The UMD disc is 60mm while a Mini-DVD is 80mm. This can be noticed by attempting to fit an uncased UMD disc into a Mini-DVD supporting DVD drive. Here's a nice read for you, if you need further proof - http://www.ecma-international.org/publicat...ds/Ecma-365.htm

Of course I know that I'm not the first person who has this "idea". But perhaps there are possiilities to "read something". At the ms it has also took time untill those exploits were discovered. I wanted to say: Perhaps the drive should be the next target.

Sorry, I didn't make a research. I only used the Search of this forum to see if there is an existing thread to talk about this topic.

Well the reason people aren't trying to make copies of UMDs is because:

1) There are no blank, writeable UMD discs made available to the public that will run on a PSP.
2) There are no UMD writing drives available to the public.
3) Sony does a special pressing type of thing to their UMDs just like with PlayStation and PlayStation 2 discs that will most likely prevent unpressed (unencrypted) UMDs to run.
4) Memory Sticks have direct and modifiable access to the PSP that UMD discs don't have, and they are simply more easy to use.
