I really think that the UMD's will last pretty long due to the drop in prices. The most expensive UMD the is will be around $20.00 if you know where to look. U can find them for these prices at your local Target or Amazon.

I think it will stay as long as the PSP, The UMD dose not have Enough space for DVD extras anyways blue ray discs are going to be the next big thing after DVD, more space so higher quality videos

Im going to say 6 months becasue I don't see alot of people buying a movie that can only be played on there psp now if they were playable in a regular DVD player as well they would probably stay around a good while.

Im thinking the Lifespan of the psp and the UMD should be the same because however the long the psp survives the UMD should survive.

Just an opinion.

Yeah after the PSP is gone, I think UMDs will kind of disappear. BUT, there is also the fact that their could be portable UMD players instead of DVD players... but that would be kind of pointless other then the fact that it may be cheaper then a portable DVD player... but then you also have to consider that their may be some new major form of media in a few years that surpasses even DVD. Too many things to take into acount for to determine the life span of the UMD disc.

I reckon if the sony wants the umd to stay around for as long as possible, sony has to make the price go down

I have to agree with the statement that there is not much point to getting something that will only play on psp. I have imtoo mpeg converter, and I am keeping my dvds because I can convert to mp4 and still have the dvds to watch on tv. not to mention dvds are cheaper.
