Taliban-man
I saw a post on a diffrent psp forum of someone taking apart their PSP to make an FM tranmitter.

it was on psphacks i think, but it was a lot of hard work to do it lol, i dont think you can
Skeletor
i know my girlfriend bought one at walmart for ipods and such, total trash wont work on most stereos, and she even has a nice car cd player and it dont pick up the radio signals worth a damn
Mercuri
It's an FM Transmitter. By the sheer definition you're going to get lousy quality and bad reception. Sucks to see a nice CD Player going to waste because someone can't be bothered to burn their MP3s onto a CD instead of using their iPod all the time wink.gif

I've seen generic FM Transmitters for your car. You just plug the thing into your headphone jack on whatever you're using and it works (but still with the horrible quality and bad reception).

PS. "Scene" (noun) is something that is seen by a viewer (ie a movie scene). Seen (verb) is having looked at something.

I R teh grammar nazi
usaswimmer36
id go with 1 that plugs into the tape player
jpimp
whats a fhmtransmitter?

this would be TO much work just buy one that pluges into the head phone jack....
rc4life77
would it be in the usb port or wut
cornbread777
I've seen a pic of a sony transmitter, fairly sleek it plugs into the headphone jack. It's black and slender about 2-3" long.
I've been seaching for the site since i started this post
xlukazx
imo, waste of time/money. don't need an FM transmitter, esp. for a psp.
LuiX
your right why waste money when you can have the music that you really want to listen

cornbread777
i just bought this product fron best buy.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1130982442117

wouldnt say its the best around, it does crackle a little when the radio station has previous reception, but its not worth the 55 bones i dropped on it.
needless to say i took it back, i would rather waste my money on another game

if you have the "extra" money go for it, in my case it wasnt but a pair of good earbuds to cure my issue

I wouldn't mind being able to hear FM radio on my PsP. My stereo gave out on me. I don't have a car and the only way I can listen to the radio is via online. One of the stations that I listen to has a freeloader program. I can't always get the keyword of the day because the online feed isn't working properly.
pspriot
I'm definitely new so I don't want to step on anybody's feet but you do realize they're talking about a transmitter and not reception right? Isn't there a HB app that lets you listen to online music? The FM transmitter I bought, specifically made for the PSP, was for use in my car as my CD changer is broken. I can vouch that it was not engineered very well. As everyone else has stated even on an open frequency I got horrible sound and static often. Also thought it would be cool to play games and listen to them through my receiver and emulated 5.1 speakers. This however does not work very well as the sound output is not constant and thus is interrupted with spits of static while other sound/music is loaded.

I bought the Griffin Itrip it works good I never noticed any static but it runs on its own batteries and doesn't have a master on/off switch, it turns on whenever any button is pushed. I only used it once then put it away in my case but when I tried to use it again the batteries where dead because it kept getting turned on. Personally it should be powered off the psp battery (you can plug it into cigarette lighter anyway) and have a master on/off switch (I guess if it was powered by the psp battery you could just unplug it)
binerd
yeah the griffin itrip is definitely the best looking fm transmitter for the psp but sound quality wise
judging on how my itrip for my ipod sounded it wouldnt be the best.
i sold my itrip and lucky me i have an auxilary in on the faceplate of my deck so using a cable i can
plug ANY mp3 player in and it is probably the best sounding "transmitter" out there.
DeatH888
got the itrip last week($20 Ebay)..it works great, but it does drain the batteries if your not careful where you store it.
it is to easy for it to get turned on(when you press a button)...and it takes like two minutes for it to turn back off...there is no on/off button(like mentioned in the above post)...see, it recognizes sound from the psp...so when there is no sound after 2mins, it shuts off.
so if you get one, just store it face down on a flat surface in a case...works for me.
the batteries last between 3-4 hours(using cheap AAA)

as for in car...it works fine, but if you live in a city were their is alot of radio stations(like me) youll get some static from time to time...because there cant be any radio stations near the input station you choose on the dial...and this is the same with most fm transmitters. "trust me..i have a driving job"
overall it works best inside using your home stereo...i love watching movies/gaming with this.

i would rate the product an 8 on a 1-10 scale...could have been a 10 if there was a on/off button.
tael
if you are trying to hear your music from a radio, either use an fm transmitter available at almost any electronics store, such as futureshop, which attaches to your ear jack. If you are trying to listen to FM radio, use the homebrew PSP Radio

I also am a grammar nazi...nothing personal to anyone here, but we can do better than this haha.
I have a friend who bought an FM transmitter for his iPod...bad quality. I am getting the impression that an FM transmitter is a bad idea. Maybe a direct line from the headphone jack to the car stereo?
kellyelliott_rock
fm transmitters are bogus. very bad quality. you can get one for around $14, but if you are willing to spend just a little bit more...

i spent $30 and went to some mom and pops audio installation place, and they added a head phone jack for input to my stereo, it looks ghetto but it it is hidden under my seat. i'm sure they over charged me, but i was not willing to try it myself. i'm very happy with it.
Jake99
There is one I think, but it has a crap range of transmission.
58289
K-mart and gamestop sell them. That's where I got mine from.
wilecoyote
there is a PSP compatible headphone that has FM and can be a remote controller for PSP ar the same time... cool stuff!
Chedderknight
I use the Monster RadioPlay 300, its pretty decent, not *OMG* amazing sound, but pretty good if your parked somewhere and wnt surround sound
drtbikeboi12
thAt would be cool to make one out of ur psp im gonna try that
Ozz465
Sounds very interesting..........

what if he has really neat radio stations where he lives and he is away from a radio?
vandalpir8
you can buy a cheap FM transmitter from EB. Im uncertain of the quality, but it tucks in on the bottom left of the console over the headphone jack.
jonlai9
Don't even bother with the Griffin stuff.. they're extremely overpriced! Just get a generic one from http://www.emvee.ca/ instead. I got one of them for my MP3 player for under $20 and the quality's very much comparable to the ones available at places like Best Buy (I've tested my friend's Belkin to compare quality and they're more or less the same!)
don_5
The Griffin iTrip has gone down a lot in price... but it will only fit the old PSP, not the new one.
