Mr Brainz
Has anyone had to get a replacement on a Japanese PSP in the UK?

Since the day I got my white PSP for Xmas the crosspad has not worked properly. The down arrow only works if you press it quite hard and I can only push it diagonally if I REALLY push it! My friends all have UK PSPs and they are much more responsive than mine...

It was given to me as a present by someone who bought it off ebay over a month ago. I phoned the Sony UK PSP helpline and, after taking loads of details off me, including my name, address, phone number, serial number and model number, they told me that I can only get support from the country it was bought in. This annoyed me as the FIRST thing I said to him was that I had a white PSP. IF YOU CAN'T SUPPORT ME WHY TAKE MY FRIGGIN' DETAILS?

SO!

Does anyone know what I can do because I'm pretty upset my brand new PSP is mullered already? sad.gif

Thanks
Ceptic Tank
I am not sure man. It would be REALLY hard cause you'd have to call the Japenese SONY company and try and talk with an English speaking person. Try to find sony of japans phone number. I would try finding it on the offical sony boards (us.playstation.com).

If nothing works I'll buy it from you if you want.

try cleaning it with rubbing alchohol
Mr Brainz
Would that involve taking it apart?

If so I want that to be a last resort!
Ceptic Tank
If you take it apart that would mean like 100% chnace of fixing the problem because you could just rearange the buttons and use alcohol like he said.
Mr Brainz
Sony are absolute ****s!

Watchdog anyone? HOW THE HELL CAN THEY JUSTIFY £135 FOR REPAIR!?!?!?
Ceptic Tank
They can't, they are assholes. I'll repair it for you for free if you pay for shipping. I'll open it up and fix it then send it back.
ns9
If you do not wan't to open it at least try putting some alcohol on a q-tip and then rubbing it between the d-pad and the faceplate. It might work.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm sure you'll understand why I'd decline.

I am tempted to do it myself, but 3 things bother me.

1. Once I open it up I have DEFINATELY no chance of help from Sony (Not that it looks like I will get any)
2. I don't understand why the contacts would need a clean if it's brand new. I'm inclined to think it's something else. (But probably wrong)
and 3. There's a high chance I'd bugger it up completely. At least at the moment I can hammer GTA:LCS with no probs.

Thanks for your insights thou.
Ceptic Tank
If you open it up I suggest you work in a dust free area and keep compressed air. It costs like 3 bucks and is worth it.
superdude159
return it to the store
Fly_Stud911
tuff luck

Yeah, sony didn't want people from the UK getting Japan psp's before the European launch...so it's not surprising that they didn't show much sympathy.
acrap
yea heard about it
