i have an ipod mini that runs linux, is there anyway i could use the usb cable to plug it into my psp for 4 g of storage. im not sure though, since i heard that the usb ports on them are set up only as accesories to a computer.
this would be sweet if it worked.
Rangedunits
No unless you use memory stick slot.
Ceptic Tank
No there isn't. If you don't use your ipod sell it and get the 4GB HDD+X2 battery. Its like the cost you could sell the ipod for and is close in size.
Tomskag
i know but i love my ipod
me and that lil fucker have been through sooo much
like me trying to put linux onit when i was drunk or the time i dropped it in the toilet.

anyway, it would be funner to doit myself..

It is not possible
mattcam3
yep, not possible as of now. someone would have to code USB host abilities into the linux kernel for the ipod, and i dont see that happeing anythime soon. also you would have to code a program (for ipod linux) that allows you to seklect what files to transfer and where.
AmwayCrew
4GB HDD+X2 battery. That thing is so gay it makes the psp the size of an xbox
kdabney69
man that would be so awsome to store psp stuff on your ipods useless 500 freakin extra gigs thast youll never use lol XD
btwright
You should set up you iPod to be used as a hard-disk and just put what you want on your PSP, but isn't on your card, on your ipod, that way all you need is a PC with 2 usb ports to switch between the two. I do that and it works fine for me.
xlukazx
linux on ur ipod? where does that get u

Even if anyone made a USB to go apllication for the Ipod you couls only swap files like you can do with any hardware that only plugs in the USB cable.

you could but it would take wire splicing skillz. Take a memory stick and open it and cut wires to ipod connecter and find out how to arrang the wires so it works. Thats just a Guess.

no, that would just break something.....

it's more complicated then just where the data and power wires connect to, it goes into protocals and such, it would work with another mem stick, but not a HDD baised system
mattcornell
i would just suggest selling the ipod and buy a bigger memory card pr multiple ones
bootbin
I'm using Apacer Steno 211 OTG to swap files from my HDD to my PSP... works like a charmm.. biggrin.gif

shellz
tha things ppl come up wit...

There probably is a way to use the hdd. I've been trying to find some way to create an interface to adapt the hdd used in ipods to a duo pro interface. If anyone has any suggestions or links, that would be most helpful. Getting the Datel unit would be nice, but I'm cheap and think it would be easy to get a broken ipod and go with it.

with the way things are going, what with ipod doing video, i see sony coding usb host into the psp firmware pretty quick. no one is going to pay 400 bucks for an 8 gig stick when a self powered portable HDD is only 300.
Fly_Stud911
I did the sme thing bootbin did
cheese_kipper
just shove the ipod in the battery slot. try it. it works.
stapes
tht looks kwl

But that kinda defeats the object....

namco_dude
that is a great idea

Wow the things people come up with, lol, shove the ipod in the battery slot. Your probably will have to wait till someone codes a driver for a portable usb hard drive, although it really doesnt solve your problem as it is bulky also. Just pray for the nand memory as it should allow pretty large capacities for relatively inexpensive prices
