I just repaired my old broken PSP that had 3.40-OEA custom on it. Installed it during last summers big lumines downgrade craze and it broke not long after.
So it's a year out of date, some of my games can't be played, and some ofthenew features I like of course aren't there.
So, is there a way to upgrade to a new firmware without having to re-downgrade? I'd like to get the old gal back up to date and playing recent games and all the new homebrew that may not run on this firmware..

If it's now got 3.40 OE-A, then all you need to do is install the following:
3.52 M33 -
3.52 M33-4 -
3.90 M33-3You'll need the
3.52 EBOOT and the
3.90 EBOOT as well.

Nope. Your FW isn't high enough that you have to.

If you're on custom firmware already then you don't need to no.
You can do if you want though, but it's harder than just doing what I first posted.

Are you on 3.52 M33-4?

yup. 3.52 M33-4
I let it go till the psp shuts off...
no brick, thankfully. but it will not up to 3.90 for some reason. I've made sure all the files are where they should be...
I dunno.
Should I try another lower then 3.90 firmware?

Odd... maybe try 3.90 M33-2 instead of M33-3?
Or re-download the 3.90 EBOOT from another source.
Or, as you say, try 3.80 M33 - 3.80 M33-5.

I think I know how to fix it, but I'd like to see if people with experience suggests the same fix before I go and do it...
Recovery, Go to recovery then advanced and then FORMAT FLASH1????
But also, I've been researching and I've found some people saying that anything beyond 3.71 M33 is kind of a waste of an upgrade, some stuff doesn't work on 3.90...

I'm on 3.90 M33-3 and it all seems to work great for me.

Alright, but will flash1 fix the problem?
I just wanna make sure before I go and try something that might screw it up.
Of course, I could probably get off my lazy butt and make a pandora, but all my memory cards are full and I can't frickin' find my spare battery...
