
Pali Research's Richard Greenfield, has said he "expects Blu-ray player and disc sales will likely triple in 2008, but it won't help reduce overall consumer spending on DVDs during the year." He believes Blu-ray won't help slow down the decline in over DVD sales until 2009. ON Blu-ray player prices, a spokesman for the German Blu-ray group and Panasonic said "We don't see big price drops in the next four to five months. Around Christmas, we can expect more dramatic price decreases". However he also said that said he eventually expected a price war to drag down prices as more manufacturers entered the market.
