Retail PS3s Soon To Be Hackable?

Team ICE (Along with StreetskaterFU) has exclusively shared with PS3Hax.net of what all PS3 hackers have been hoping for. After a long journey there finally is a glimpse of hope of a hacking the PS3. Team ICE has found a method run SELF files in GameOS (on firmware 2.10!). In other words they have found a way to run an unsigned code on the RETAIL PS3 via RFOM exploit on the latest firmware.

The self written SELF files are written by a tool called Elf2Self, more information about that can be found here, it is expected to be released in the very near future.

Although not 100% complete, it still is a HUGE step and this method should be finalized and perfected very soon.

So what does this all mean? It means that the PS3 is closes than ever to being hacked, and homebrew and the first hello world are just around the corner!

Please stay tuned, tutorials and tools to run assigned codes on the PS3 will be released here very soon.

I Agree, No way I'm going to have any sort of exploit/hack on my PS3! It cost me too much to stuff around with its gut's! I have cfw on my PSP but that’s only because I stoped using it for games years ago! And it is much easer to tinker with! (Never had a brick! biggrin.gif ) But the PS3 is another story! I use it on-line too much to have cfw or any other exploit/hack on it, plus I think SONY would develop something to detect a Hacked PS3 on-line. Then ban you!
GantzSensei
Guys it's a fake exploit a the website that "team" works for is known entirely for BS, secondly the PS3 forcibly checks all data for Sony's signature, thridly, even IF this were true Sony will patch the exploit and force the PS3 to update, plus if you don't update you can't play online, ect, this is a stupid as they come.
TelcoLou
Erm, cant you run Yellow Dog Linux on the PS3 already? What's the point then of "hacking" it??

lol, gantz strikes again!!! i knew the PS3 couldnt be hacked...well it can but as gantz said before Sony would force you to update, unless you're some weirdo who doesnt like to play online...which may i remind you is free unlike xbox live
GantzSensei
Yeah but most people hate PS3 Linux, because it's not as good as regular Linux, (TelcoLou, this next part is not directed at you but the people across the web that say they want PS3 hacks for homebrew) people want it to be hacked for an ISO loader, yeah that's right I said it an ISO loader, don't kid yourself and say you want it for homebrew, you want it because you're cheap and don't want to pay for games. And if your reason is homebrew than move on, the PS3 is designed to play PSone, PS2, and PS3 games, if you want something to play NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, GameCube, and XBOX games, go buy the damn consoles, don't spoil the experience for the rest of us you cheap pricks, look at it this way, if the PS3 is hacked and if it is an ISO loader will be made, that costs developers billions of dollars, and makes them not want to make more games, and Jinzo in reply to your post the PS3 will NEVER and I MEAN NEVER be hacked, it can't be done as I said before, anything that is run on the PS3 forcibly checks for Sony's signature, meaning no unsigned code could ever run successfully, let alone run at all.

Just because you and Jinzo are in denial I am not going to let you close this topic. This is a open minded forum and just because you THINK its a fake then you can think that all you want. Team ICE exploit is real. Its been confirmed by many reliable sources including ps3-hacks.com I DO AGREE THAT AT THIS POINT THE VIDEO MAY NOT BE REAL. But the tools and exploit are.

And I am running emulators on my PS3 with Yellow dog Linux just fine so I dont need to buy other consoles.

dry.gif I didn't close it because I'm in denial, and actually it's been disproved more than it's been "proven" PS3-hax is know notoriously for bullshit, I closed this topic because it's old news people can believe what they want. Topic closed.

Put it this way, so far this isnt real hard concrete evidence for any of this. This first video they showed with the ps3 freezing showed jack. I will believe it when I see it. It might happen, but then it might now. We will see as time progresses.

The thing for me is even if its hacked. Why? What are you honestly going to be able to do with it? Its not like the psp, if you end up being able to burn a blu ray game you wont be able to go online, etc... Seems pointless. Its called pay for your games. Sure some people may truly want it for homebrewm but thats few. Just buy a psp jeez.
