In-Game XMB Support Coming Sometime In 2008

Ask what the teeming masses of PS3 owners want most from a firmware update, and their response will come in unison: In-game XMB support. Well, you want it, you got it, because according to The Game Reviews, SCEA's Paul Purdy told them it's definitely coming in 2008. Definitely. Nothing more concrete than that, so it could be anytime from tomorrow to December 31, but sometimes it's nice just to have a timeframe to settle yourself down in, make yourself comfy.

Does that mean that when you are playing with a game you can pause it, switch to the xmb, watch a movie, then continue playing?
If it does, its a cool feature, because most games have checkpoint saving system and you dont have to quit the game before the next checkpoint if u want to do something else.

Sony has been promising this for a long time now. Hopefully we can get some results.

Sony hasn't really been promising this, they've just acknowledged that people want it, now they have been working on this, but they never announced a release date, they've simple said we know you want it and we're on it, I would probably expect this to be released with Home, but that's just my guess.

I am not sure about that but I would think it's possible, but I think this is more for, when someone messages you or invites you to a chat session, that way you don't have to quit the game, message them then go back to the game, which I'll admit is a tad annoying, but usually I just ignore it and reply later.

when do you think if ever will they support in game music? do you think that might come with this update as well?

Most likely yes, because the functions work together and it's the two things PS3 owners want the most.
